Long overdue was this work where Dick B. researched what he called the 'nonsense gods' that have crept into A.A. and recovery thinking. He shows the origin of the idolatrous concepts that have grown out of phrases like 'higher power,' 'power greater than ourselves,' and 'God as we understood Him.' As Rev. Sam Shoemaker said, God is God, and self is not God. Neither is a rock, a light bulb, a chair, or a group as so many are beginning the see and repeat. Shoemaker and Wilson both said, God either is, or He isn't. And they made it clear that they believed He IS (Hebrews 11:6). Shoemaker rejected 'absurd names for God.' And Dick delineates the goofy from the one true living Creator, Yahweh. Great and necessary work! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
