Pain is a universal human condition. Suffering is woven into the fabric of our fallen world. No one is immune from pain, no one can escape it. It’s a condition that impacts people, relationships, even entire countries. As a child in a missionary family serving in West Africa and Malawi, Palmer Chinchen witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of civil war, pandemics, and extreme poverty and hunger. And in such moments, it can seem like God is asleep while the world spins out of control. Chinchen believes that while pain may not always make sense, it’s vital that we develop a Christian response to suffering. Drawing from powerful Scripture and his unique world experiences, Chinchen fearlessly tackles the big questions: Where is God when life hurts? When will this pain stop? Why do innocent people suffer? Through Chinchen’s insights that encourage, comfort, and offer hope you’ll be inspired to respond to a hurting world as you connect with the compassionate heart of a God who can’t sleep.

This book truly challenged me, in a good way. The author brilliantly blends the miracle of Gods mercy, grace & love with powerful true stories of people facing huge pain, suffering and devastating circumstances. An inspiring resource for people needing practical guidance in how to endure and even thrive amid huge trials. A refreshingly straightforward honest approach to a tough topic! Thanks for the reality check I needed!!
