Meet the Author

My life was shaped by my parents who instilled in me a deep curiosity about history, politics and the motivations that drive people to excell as I grew up in Eisenhower era, upwardly mobile, middle class family in the suburbs of Boston and Washinton, DC. After a superb college education by the Jesuits, service in the US Army during the Vietnam Era gave me a sense of awe over the power of team work under strong leadership. My three years in law school honed my analytical skills and prepared my for a career for 7 years of law practice and 24 years in the personal investment management business. I had the pleasure of helping successful people secure their future financially in a variety of sales and senior management positions. Numerous positions in volunteer, non-profit community service and politics allowed me the chance to follow my father's example of making a difference in society. I have been blessed with a perfect woman, Amy, as my wife and three wonderful children from a former marriage. Throughout my life, the study of American and European history has been a constant delight. How individuals respond to challenges and dreams for a better life suggested to me that the conflict between a nascent Spanish Empire and the Empire of the Inca people was ripe for illumination. Giants in the historical novel genre, such as Scott, Michener, Follett, Vidal and recently Mantel have inspired me to bring the heroes of the Inca Conquest saga to life. Other historical novelists, such as Michael and Jeff Shaara, have both educated and entertained tens of thosands of readers who thirst to understand the humanity of historical figures. This has been my goal. The Pizarro brothers, Hernando De Soto, Vasco Nunez De Balboa and the unknown partner for Pizarro, Diego de Almalgro were adventurers of the first order. The Inca leaders - Pachecutec, Tupa Inca Yupamque and Huyana Capac - rival the achievements of the Ceasers of Rome. I have labored to bring their lives into the sunshine.
