Farrell, known for his writings on the effect and influence of Augustinism on Western Christianity, ended his publications in theology - as far as I know - with this work. It is actually the written transcripts of a course he taught, largely without notes, for the University of Oklahoma in an honors philosophy seminar. I remember it well, for I was one of the students that presuaded him to publish the course in book form, and who was lucky enough to buy it! GET THIS BOOK for a TOTALLY different perspective of modern western Christianity. It's brilliant and comes with no less than 350 plus pages of meticulous footnotes. Was this review helpful?
