Meet the Author

I've spent my working career in finance and banking. Writing is a new endeavor, but I've been a voracious reader all my life. Scifi, fantasy, thriller, horror, it's all good. But I keep coming back to urban fantasy and that's what I've chosen to write.

I forge knives, study Brazilian Jiujitsu, and help run an outdoor education center (ndcenter.org) in my spare time, which is whatever is left over after two teens and my wife get done with me.

“John Conroe's first book does more than display his familiarity with the currently popular sub-genre of vampire stories. It also showcases a truly individual and engaging storytelling voice. With intelligence and sly humor, Conroe has crafted a tale that is more than mere genre fiction. It's a truly engaging and rewarding read.” – Joseph Bruchac, award winning author of The Skeleton Man and co-author of the best selling Keepers of the Earth series.

Sometimes I get caught up in the cover art, but thankfully I did

Sometimes I get caught up in the cover art, but thankfully I didn't this time. From page one you are drawn quickly into the story and it's a roler coaster from there. There are a few series i look forward to continuing and this is in the top 3.

    Fantastic Urban Fantasy!!

What a great premise and story. The characters are well done and 3 dimensional. They are very likable and believable. The story grabs you from the beginning and doesn't let go until the end. It is definitely a page turner and action packed. There are ghosts, demons, werewolves, vampires and Damnedthing in this story and they are all full of personality. I'm not a fan of romance but the relationship between Tanya and Chris is an essential part of the story but it is not portrayed as agnst-filled, stereotypical romance that is basis for most romance stories out there. This is truly an Urban Fantasy that has a solid relationship vital to the progressing storyline. I am so happy to see that there are sequels to this novel and I can't wait to read them. This is another great reason to have a Nook--by using the "Related Topics" festure you can find great authors like this that aren't found in the bookstores or best sellers list. This author is definitely on my must read list.

    Great storyline

This is a fast paced easy read. Well written and interesting twist on the traditional/present day vampire lore. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series. John does a great job of making the story come to life as you read it. I see it morphing into a screenplay very easily.
