Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 5-8-The life of the Nobel Prize-winning engineer is profiled in this installment in the series. The dry, workmanlike text reads like an encyclopedia entry. This is not surprising since the author, in the few instances when any documentation is cited, uses the 1980 edition of Current Biography and the Nobel Prize Web site as her sources. Average-quality, black-and-white photos appear throughout. The chronology of Hounsfield ends in 1981, and readers are left wondering what has happened to him since then. Although there are no other single biographies on the scientist for this audience, libraries will want to wait for a better one, especially if they can offer access to the reference sources mentioned.-Jennifer Ralston, Harford County Public Library, Belcamp, MD Copyright 2003 Cahners Business Information.
