About the Author

Lady Gregory (1852-1932), born Isabella Augusta Persse, was an Irish playwright, folklorist, and nationalist.  A key figure in the Irish Literary Revival, she co-founded the Abbey Theater and Irish Literary Theatre with William Butler Yeats and Edward Martyn, and was instrumental in popularizing Irish mythology and folklore through her collections and dramas.
