Overview

God's Feet are in My Sandbox is one of the most powerful and captivating first-hand accounts of God's movement in our world to affirm life, love, forgiveness and hope. Rick's story will rock your world! Sister Helen Prejean , author of Dead Man Walking and The Death of Innocents Having spent 16 years as chaplain for a unit of 2200 men, and ministering to 95 men on their last day in the Death House, I am totally committed to the fact that this is an important ministry and that these are people. Rev. Anderson writes greatly of how important it is to see them as people and to understand the fact that restorative justice is possible. He still has to face the system. Rev. Carroll Pickett, author of Within These Walls Dare to enter one man's Spirit-filled world that overflows with the rejuvenating power of Almighty God. Join him as he ministers to condemned men in their dungeons and testifies to God's unbridled love poured out. Walk beside him as he risks it all to reach out to the most hated man on Texas' Death Row.

As soon as I read the title of this book I knew it would be special. God's Feet Are In My Sandbox is the inspiring autobiography of Rick Anderson. As a young man Anderson considered suicide. In his deep depression he drove to a pond with a Gideon Bible in his pocket and began to read how Jesus had called Lazarus from the tomb. Rick knew he was dead inside and only Jesus could restore his life. Afterward, his friends and family knew he was a changed man. He met and fell in love with Judy. They were both fully committed to living a Christ like life. Together they served the Lord. Judy had two children previously, together they had Caleb and later they adopted Lucy Grace. They depended on the Lord and He never failed to meet their needs. Judy discovered a lump in her breast, which proved to be malignant. The cancer later spread throughout her body. I had tears in my eyes as I read the hospital scene where she asked Rick to let her go. It must have been one of the most difficult things Rick ever had to do.

Man was not meant to be alone and Rick longed for companionship. God sent Kim into his life and once again his family increased in size.

Rick felt God leading him into prison ministry. In the last half of the book he shares the stories of the men on death row. The tales of the men are heartwarming.

God's Feet Are In My Sandbox is beautifully written. Rick Anderson has faced tragedy, hardship, and depression. Through God he not only survived, he thrived. This book is written in a conversational manner. I felt as though I were sitting across from Rick sharing a cup of tea as he shared his story with me. I'm glad I read this book, and you will be too.

It is the faith journey of a man who struggled for years and then learned that God was faithful and wanted him to be too. Well-done.

Pastor Anderson has provided a wonderful recounting of God's work in his life - a work of Grace. His personal story enlightens, inspires and edifies as he allows the reader into his personal journey - a journey that reminds us that we may travel roads never envisioned to destinations never imagined, and yet, God leads and accompanies us along the way if we are willing to follow. Read this book and be inspired.

What an awesome witness to how faith in God can carry us through some of the hardest situations we must go through. I was impressed as much by how Rick was inspired by the inmates at the prison as they were inspired by him. I definitely recommend this book!

This book is an amazing depiction of the power of God in ALL circumstances and the unwavering faith of a "sold out for Him" Christian man. You will be touched deeply by the stories and the telling of them is masterful. I left the book with huge admiration for the author and his faith.
