Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

“One of the great movements in our time is that of the ex-homosexuals and ex-lesbians. These are broken people who have admitted their brokenness and found true happiness--not the so-called ‘gay' lifestyle--but by living for Jesus Christ. One such man is Alan Chambers, currently president of the largest umbrella organization of ex-homosexuals, Exodus International. Alan Chambers' book provides believers with Christian and loving (but uncompromising) answers to this controversial issue.”
--D. James Kennedy, Ph.D., senior minister, Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church

“I can't think of anyone more knowledgeable to lead someone out of sexual bondage than Alan Chambers. He is a man of integrity and compassion. His heart, life, and words are full of wisdom. He has personally touched my life with his kindness and love for God. It is friends like Alan I want everyone to get to know. In order to introduce you to this godsend to our nation, I highly recommend God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door.”
--Dennis Jernigan, composer, author, former homosexual

“If you're a believer who's touched by this issue--and these days, who isn't?-- then you'll be as excited as I am about this book. It doesn't come a moment too soon.”
--Joe Dallas, author of Desires in Conflict and The Game Plan

“This is a wonderful book--unapologetic truth wrapped with tenderness and compassion. I'm grateful to Alan Chambers and his associates for providing the biblical and practical insight and help the church needs. I'm thankful for this book and enthusiastically recommend it to you.”
--Dr. Robert Wolgemuth, author of She Calls Me Daddy

“I am so grateful this book is finally available. With wisdom, knowledge, and grace, Alan offers those who struggle with their sexuality and those who love them a place to stand. It is with other broken people, welcomed into the life changing love of God. For those who long to understand the heart of God to the homosexual community and how to share that love, this book is a gift.”
--Sheila Walsh, Women of Faith keynote speaker

“It's an excellent resource book, whether you're a Christian concerned about your homosexual friends and family members, or if you're involved in a church that's willing to minister. Christ died for everyone. We sin when, through hatred or fear we refuse to minister to the lost just because they make us uncomfortable. Alan Chamber's God's Grace and the Homosexual Next Door is an important resource for anyone interested in taking the gospel to the homosexual community, and one I strongly recommend.”
--Barbara Warren, author

“Thank you for being so open and real with your readers and for showing the church how to have the same compassion toward others as Christ has toward each of us.”
--Shannon Ethridge, MA

    Stunningly Laughingly Pathetic

Okay first things first. I have absolutely no problem with homosexuals. I really don't care and I think if people are bored enough to go poking their noses into someones private life they have some problems. But okay, I read the book out of curiosity because I thought 'well hey! The title makes it sound like someone's finally standing up to the homophobic masses!' So I read it...and became so perversly enthralled in absolute horror when I realized what I was reading. First thought, 'I should have read a review article or something...'. Seriously this person talks about homosexuality like it's a disease that only someone with 'a pure heart and a noble soul can cure' (no that was not a quote) I'm a religious person myself. I read the bible, I pray every night and sometimes scattered throughout the day and Christmas is more than gift-giving to me. The preaching some seriously mis-guided freaks out there are giving about homosexuality and cleansing the soul from their evil sin makes me sick. If God is as all-forgiving as we say he is then why are there so many ways to fall out of his graces? And another thing to point out. The bible was TRANSLATED and no translation is perfect and no mere human is completely honest. Some things might have been twisted and are changed through time. We're talking hundreds of years here and remember the game you played, Operater? Where you'd sit in a circle and whisper something to the person sitting next to you and they'd pass it on? Nothing ever came out the same or even remotely the same. Unless you have the VERY FIRST, VERY ORIGINAL copy and you speak in that native tongue and you have a completely honest soul and have NEVER sinned (cleansing at confession doesn't count), are completely honest and you are completely neautral about homosexuals and the bible still says that homosexuality is wrong THEN we'll talk...not saying that I'll change my views though... I'm shaking my head in sheer wondermant now and wondering what the heck is wrong with humanity. I thought we learned our lesson with Hitler and the Civil War...
