Overview

How can I know if I’m doing the right things as a parent? What is the definition of success in parenting?

We all want to know the answers to these questions, don’t we? This book offers a bold, clear answer:“Success is not helping our kids be what they want to be. Success is helping our kids be what God wants them to be.”

These words summarize a passion and calling that Awana® and Dr. Rob Rienow share together – that parents understand and acquire God’s grand vision for our homes as the primary spiritual training ground for our children!

You are holding this book because, at some level, you are developing a vision for your child’s life that goes beyond the cultural norm. You are seeing that the ultimate measure of your success in parenting is not your child’s future income, education or social status. Instead, it is whether your child gets safely home to heaven and is equipped to lead future generations of your family there too.

For Awana, this vision for your child’s life is embodied in an ideal we call Modern-Day Joseph®. Inspired by Joseph of the Old Testament in the Bible, this is a young person who comes to know, love and serve God as a youth and lives out a vibrant, visible faith in a morally hostile, destructive environment.

The ministry of Awana is here to help you raise a modern-day Joseph! We do this by encouraging and equipping you to be the primary spiritual leader of your children, and also by supplying churches with proven children’s ministry programs that complement your discipleship efforts at home.

Please visit www.awana.org to learn more about raising a modern-day Joseph and how Awana can help you accomplish God’s grand vision for your home.
