Very highly recommended! A must for everyone!

My husband received this devotional from our son for Christmas, a companion to the Patriot's Bible. it is an amazing study, not only historically but also spiritually! It brings you back to the principles on which our great country was founded. It shows us how far we have fallen in taking God out of our society. I gives us biblical principles to live by. A great record of the faith of our founding fathers.

God's Promises for the American Patriot

God's Promises for the American Patriot - By Richard Lee, Jack Countryman is an impressive, illustrated pocket sized book of patriotic devotionals. This book contains short stories, anecdotes and historical information about well known historical figures such as George Washington Carver, as well as Abraham Lincoln. Contemporary American heros such as Gen Patton and President Reagan are to be found as well. Devotionals covering historical documents such as the declaration of Independance and the Gettysburg Address are also contained in the pages of this book. Furthermore, this is not only a quaint book of American quotes and trivia, but an inspriting book on American history and the role of faith in this country. It can not be denied by athiests or humanists that this nation was founded on the Christian faith as taught in the bible. Our inventors, and historical figures based their lives on the words of the bible. In contrast to today's world, where ambition and materialism are the basis of our consumeritic and selfish culture, faith took a large role in the history of our nation, from the greatest of politicians and generals to inventors, and families. As a blogger for booksneeze I recieved this book from Thomas Nelson publishers for the purpose of writing this review.

    Celebrate America Anytime!

God's Promises for the American Patriot by Richard Lee and Jack Countryman
A new wave of American patriots and their fervor for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are reminiscent to that of over 200 years ago. In response, God's Promises® for the American Patriot combines historical facts about our forefathers with promises from God's Word, giving a powerful look at the importance of Biblical values and how they affect the fabric of our constitution.
Noah Webster's An American Dictionary defines patriotism as Love of one's country in defending and protecting its rights and the modern Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines patriotism as Love for or devotion to one's country. This book of promises seeks to show that true patriotism is not just an emotional feeling; it is action by introducing people who believed in our country and the examples their lives provided.
This book sends the reader on a journey to understand what God has done for America and where we are as a nation. The reader will enjoy the stories of heroes, past and present, who have devoted their lives to establishing and shaping America on the promises of God.
It is inspiring and educational and is sure to fuel the passion of many Christian patriots across the globe and to spur further research.
I enjoyed reading about how men and women of character and intregity depended on biblical values and its message, using scriptures to connect love of God and Country.
Great to give as a gift and is available in Deluxe Leather Edition and Soft Cover.
I received a free copy of this book from Thomas Nelson as part of their Booksneeze blogger program.

    Education and Inspiration!

This is a lovely, high quality gift book by Richard Lee (author of the God's Promises series) and Jack Countryman (author of The American Patriot's Bible). Quotes and stories from great Americans of our past are shared along with verses from the Bible. Through this book we are reminded of the importance of Biblical values and how they influenced the framework of our county and of our constitution.

What a perfect combination-- American's story and God's Word! God's Promises for the American Patriot could be used as a devotional, but it is so much more. It's a combination of education and inspiration. I enjoyed it as a lover of history and of our Christian heritage. I also plan to use it later alongside our homeschooling curriculum. Very clear, small pictures of the people whose quotes and stories are also included. God bless you as you read this! And may God bless America!

God's Promises for the American Patriot - Deluxe Edition

God's Promises for the American Patriot - Deluxe Edition by Dr. Richard G. Lee and Jack Countryman, published by Thomas Nelson God's Promises has got to be THE most beautiful book that I have seen in a very long time. For more than 200 years God's promises have led our country - but it does not seem as if the people today are letting him. The government has taken God out of almost everything and I believe that is one of the main reasons that America is failing our people. This book is full of great patriot stories from Martin Luther King Jr, Dwight D Eisenhower, Daniel Webster and many many more. As with each story, there are also great scriptures to go along with each one. Every AMERICAN needs to read this book and get back to the roots of what God and America together MEANS!!

    Inspirational gift book

Several of the books on the available list on Booksneeze this week were inspirational based books and I kind of just quickly skimmed the list and picked "God's Promises for the American Patriot" based on just the little blurb that was featured on the site. I should have paid more attention to it because I was expecting an actual book to read but it is more like a gift book.something you could read now and then for some inspiration.

"God's Promises" highlights the fact that Christian principles and morals were integral to the shaping and forming of the foundations of this country. The book highlights stores about some of the patriots and heroes in American history and how they have relied on the Bible to guide and direct them. We cannot say that all of the 'founding fathers' were Christians, but we can say that they did think from a biblical perspective.

This book would be appropriate for people interested in history, biblical stories, and how Christianity played a role in the history of America. The book itself is bound in a thick cover of letter; the pages are shiny and thicker like those of a school yearbook. It would make a great addition to someone's coffee table collection or one that would be displayed on a bookshelf near a Bible.

    A Great Reminder

I was really nervous about reading the book "God's Promises for the American Patriot" by Dr. Richard G. Lee and Jack Countryman. Anytime I hear about books on God and America it usually means a misapplication of 2 Chronicles 7:14.

"If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

And sure enough the first thing I see when I open the book is 2 Chronicles 7:14. I was tempted to close it right then, but I decided against it. As I looked at the format of the book I was actually relieved.

It is almost broken up into a daily devotional. Most of the time there are is a prayer or American document on the left side and Scripture on the right.

While some of the Scripture doesn't really go well with the prayers or documents in my opinion I find most of them useful.

I also must admit to really liking the binding on this book. It is a smaller book, but it has a nice thick and soft binding. It just feels nice to hold in your hand.

I believe my favorite quote from the book was from Calvin Coolidge the 30th President.

"The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in our country."

Even though a few Scriptures are taken out of context this book does a nice job of reminding us of those foundations.

    Read with discernment...

God's Promises for the American Patriot by Dr. Richard G. Lee and Jack Countryman is a little devotional style book. If focuses on quotes from people in American history. It largely focuses on presidents and founding fathers. There are many interesting quotes and historical facts in this book. Accompanying most of the quotes are bible verses that focus on biblical promises. Unfortunately, not all of the people quoted were Christians. Just because a historical figure mentions a creator or god, doesn't mean that they are talking about the God of the bible. Dr Benjamin Rush for instance was a universalist. Also, I personally have a problem with promises from the bible being pulled out of context. I can't recommend this book. If you happen to be a universalist or deist, you may enjoy this book. It has a nice sturdy binding, an attractive cover, and has a sharp layout.

    Perfectly Patriotic

God's Promises for the American Patriot is a great gift book for the person in your life who loves history or is interested in the founding of our country. There are short two page chapters that address a topic related to patriotism. The book is not limited to the founding fathers, but also highlights others who more recently have been vocal about their love of country and love of God. I think it is the perfect father's day gift and would be a great book to have on the coffee table.

    Great Gift Book!!

My dad is a US Veteran and naturally a huge American patriot, so when I saw this book I knew I had to get it for him. I am so glad I did. This is a great book full of true American history and promises from God's word to back it up. The cover is displays an American flag and feels cushioned. The pages are glossy and thick. This is a small gift book and just the right size for carry in your purse, backpack, my dad carries it in his glove box and reads it on his breaks. He is finding it is a great tool for introducing the gospel. God's Promises for the American Patriot drives home the unmistakable fact that this country was founded on Christian principles and because of this God has blessed this nation. I am homeschooled and already asked my mom if we can use God's Promises for the American Patriot as a supplement to our history curriculum.of course she said yes! I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves God & Country.

A great devotional for the patriot!

God's Promises for the American Patriot by Richard Lee and Jack Countryman is an excellent book that presents the historical events of our country and forefathers combined with Biblical scripture support for the ideas presented. The book could be used as a devotional as the chapters are fairly short and each is accompanied by several Bible verses that relate to the facts being presented.

A total of ninety-seven historical events and figures are profiled in the book. The individual leaders include presidents and politicians, scientists, patriots, colonists, Supreme Court justice, business men and women, scholars, a hymn writer and a philanthropist. All of whom have contributed to the shaping and development of America.

This book is an excellent presentation of how the Bible has been a foundation of our country from the start and would be a recommended read for anyone that has a passion for the history of our great country. It would also serve as a reminder to anyone in our government today of the principles this country was founded on!

    Good Book

God's Promises for the American Patriot is a devotional book designed for those who wish to dig deeper into how this country was shaped by Scripture. Pulling from historical records of many famous Americans it offers a candid look into the lives of such historical figures as Franklin and Washington but not just the founders, it includes scientist, authors and business people all of them shaped in some way by scripture. An encouragement throughout this book would be a great gift for some one who loves the rich history of our country or it could serve well as a conversation starter on a coffee table. Neither the historical nor the biblical aspects of this piece are overdone. I would and will recommend this book to a few of my family members.

Highly Recommended for Americans Interested in the History of our Country

Truths expressed in the Bible have guided many of our greatest Presidents. John Quincy Adams, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Regan, Benjamin Harrison, and Harry S. Truman gave testament to the importance of the Bible for them and for our country. One of my favorite sections of this book is the series of quotes from these men. The book features historical events and documents important in American history coupled with appropriate Bible verses. I believe that anyone reading the two together will realize how the Bible formed the foundation of our country and guided the actions of many people. From the Declaration of Independence to the move westward, the Bible traveled with the people giving them courage and inspiration. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a passions for America. I believe it would make an excellent devotional, or a book for discussion in a small group setting. I review this book as part of the Thomas Nelson BookSneeze Program.
