Going For Kona is a new book from the author of the Katie and Annalise series, Pamela Fagan Hutchins. She has raised the bar again with this book. It is a beautifully written and well-told story about a woman struggling through grief and loss. Michele is the main character, a friend from law school of Katie from the Katie and Annalise books. She has a wonderful life married to a great man, Adrian, who shared his passion for triathlons with Michele.  He also gave her a teenage stepdaughter to raise with her own teenage son. Michele and her husband Adrian have even written a book about training together. But this is life and things don’t stay perfect, her life is shattered when her husband is killed. She chooses to honor her husband by participating in the Ironman. They both got into it this year, Adrian by times in other events and Michele with a lottery slot. She pushes on to do it, despite missing Adrian as her coach. Dedicated to training on her own for the punishing Ironman, she also faces trouble at home. She is losing her stepdaughter to her maternal grandmother and is increasingly more alienated from her son, as he too, struggles with the losses suffered. Finally, there is Adrian’s death itself and the mystery of the unknown hit-and-run driver who killed him and a scandal revealed after Adrian’s death. Can Michele survive the loss of her husband, will her son stop acting out and settle down, will her stepdaughter still love her, and will they ever learn who killed Adrian? This book kept me on the edge of my seat and loving every minute of it. I highly recommend it to anyone who is already a fan of Pamela or anyone new to Pamela, jump in, pour a cup of Kona, and enjoy the ride.

Heart Wrenching and Funny and uplifting all at the same time.

Loved the book. The Characters are so real, flawed raw and worth caring about. The pace is fast and the emotions Genuine, the author hits perfect notes on the interactions and leaves you hanging to till the end on the Mystery. Great Stuff.

Local mystery writer, Pamela Fagan Hutchins, hit another beautiful home run out of the park with her new novel "Going for Kona". With a plot that keeps you guessing and reading into the wee hours of the night, she fills the pages of "Kona" with mystery, grief, heartbreak, hope, family, and love. I don't mean love with an all capital, exclamation mark punctuated yell, but love that grown-ups have with their companions, children and friends. The lowercase love that lasts lifetimes, sustains, and keeps us going.

Thanks to Pamela for a wonderful read that kept me up into the wee hours of the morning, watching her heroine "Going for Kona".

Michele Hanson is married to the love of her life and living hap

Michele Hanson is married to the love of her life and living happily with him and his daughter and her son. They have written a book together about Triathlons which has been published by her employer. Then, the night before their anniversary he took his bike and went to pick up something at the store--he didn't wear his helmet. He was killed by a hit and run driver. Michele is devastated and is barely there for her children. She is positive that there is someone stalking her family-but can she convince the police? She decides to run the Kona Ironman Triathlon even though her husband will not be running it with her.

This book will grab at your heart strings, make you gasp (at some of the antics her children pull) and make you want to commit murder yourself on occasion! Michele's mother is a pain! Her father is a doll. Her Ex--well---And as for who done it--read the book you will be happy you did!

Going for Kona by Pamela Fagan Hutchins

Michele Lopez Hanson's life is in turmoil when her husband (Adrian) unexpectedly gets killed in a hit an
run bicycle accident. Soon she finds this is not an accident, the police suspect foul play, a homicide. As
she struggles to carry on in everyday living, she has two children to think of, and the Kona Ironman
Triathlon she and her husband were training for. She becomes a bit concerned, maybe even paranoid that
someone is stalking her family. Is the stalker the killer? Who and why would someone want to kill Adrian?

A fast paced murder mystery. I liked the original story line, the back story of the triathlon and Michele.
She was an average upper middle class working Mother, her emotions and problems were true to life.
Living with two teen aged children was well written, along with the blended family. MS. Hutchins was spot
on in her details of Michele's family life, very believable. I highly recommend Going for Kona for those who
    like murder/mystery.
