Children's LiteratureThe editor took her first out of country trip at the age of thirteen, and it turned out to be a life altering experience. Since then, she has made trips to many corners of the globe. Her experiences inspired her to compile travel stories from other kids in hopes it will inspire readers to learn more about their world through travel. The 24 vignettes are authored by teens of all ages and each brings their own personality to their story. The stories relate experiences from as far away as India and Hong Kong and as near as our own country, but the underlying message is the same—that travel opens one's heart and mind in a very positive way. There are even a few stories about historical travelers such as Sagagewea. A realistic addition to geography studies in the classroom, the book also provides travel resources for students interested in going abroad. 2003, Beyond Words Publishing, Ages 10 to 14.
