Nice combination of funny, chilling, and clever. This is a great read for the holidays. I especially appreciated the realistic and relatable main character, Donna. She was neither a superwoman nor a damsel in distress.

This mystery flows, the characters are believable and the ending is a surprise. An easy to read "who-dun-it" from the up and coming cozy mystery writer, Barb Early. I highly recommend it.

It's very difficult to find romance stories that aren't full of sex--you can tell a lot of writers just don't know the difference between the two, and while they're writing them, they seem to forget about plot.
While Sam was interesting, I would have loved to see something start between Donna and Neal. Unfortunately, Neal was busy being a murder victim. Loved the story and loved the surprise ending. Donna's a fully fleshed out character and makes the perfect 'accidental' detective. This story has depth and dimension--two qualities lacking in so many 'romance' books nowadays that I usually don't read them. Glad I read this one.

High school geometry teacher, Donna Russell likes her life well-ordered and
logical, even if it is a tad solitary at times. But when a charming
co-worker at the local food bank disappears just before Christmas, Donna is
left with more questions than solutions.
After the missing man's neighbor, muscle-bound EMT Sam Holton, volunteers
as Donna's crime-fighting sidekick, sparks fly between them. Donna wonders
if Sam can be trusted, or if he's trying to throw an unknown into her
calculations—and her life.
And when police recover a body from the icy Niagara River, Donna is faced
with the most frustrating equation of all: can murder plus mayhem ever
equal romance?
Gold, Frankincense, and Murder is a sweet, short, sleuthy story. While I
would have preferred a little romance to go with this holiday treat, I
enjoyed the tone and pace of this story. Donna is not your typical romance
heroine and it was rather refreshing to see the world through her eyes.
Blue Ice is a cool caper, the adventure grabs you from the first sentence
and never lets up. Balanced with a wonderful romantic element this is a
fast and fun escapade. The two main characters draw you in and before you
know it you are going along for the ride, holding your breath that
everything works out. Garrett is one sexy ex-con and I think I might have
lost a little piece of my heart at his slow Texas drawl and deeply
ingrained manners. Addison has the type of perseverance and determination
that most people can only dream of. Neither of these two are perfect but
they are likable in their flaws and features. The villains and supporting
characters are entertaining and add to the plot and pace. I'd love to see
Garrett's friend get his very own story and I'm looking forward to checking
out what else this author has to offer.
