Overview

As a half-breed who would never belong to his tribe, he sold himself for food, shelter and survival. As the Savage Lord who would never belong to the ton, he sold himself for social acceptance. As a man with nothing left to lose, he's learned that survival doesn't mean as much as self-respect and he'll never sell himself again. Keeping that vow might cost him his heart, his soul and his future.

Colt grew up under the not so tender care of the stepfather who named him "Sky Who Walks" as a permanent reminder of his blue eyes that proclaim he can never be a real warrior. Disowned by his stepfather for disobedience after he tries to rescue his mother, Sky survives by trading the use of his body to widowed squaws for food and shelter. When the Earl who had abandoned his mother claims his son, Colton Simon Haversham trades the use of his body to society ladies to gain acceptance to the ton. Disowned by his biological father for refusing to step into a marital trap, Colt Star makes his way to California, vowing never to tread English soil again. Tormented by nightmares, Colt makes another vow --that the price of his passage to manhood is one he will never pay again.

The English Earl wants a second chance from the son who doesn't believe in them and crafts a scheme to force Colt into a situation where he needs one himself. The Earl arranges for Colt and his partners to buy a claim, a cabin and a commercial lot in Hangtown, a California gold mining camp. Then he sells the remaining interest in the venture to Lady Viv, an English ice princess whose independent soul craves a future that does not require her to sell herself into a loveless marriage. The father knows his son, and Colt's savage fire melts her ice, but his hatred of cages crafted in the name of love, and his scorn for all things English send the lady fleeing for home.

Can Colt's Gypsy partner and an English Duke gifted with a sixth sense force him to face his love for the lady he scorned? Will Colt tread the soil and reconcile with the father he foreswore? If he does, will it cast him back into his darkest nightmares?

Meet the Author

Mary Anne Graham lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she practices law. She would love to start earning an honest living as a writer. She does appellate work and does get paid to write but her audience is limited to lawyers and Judges. She is married to her adorable husband, John (who does the graphic art design of her book covers), and has two (2) sometimes adorable and always challenging sons, Zack and Sam.

She writes Romance, both contemporaries and historicals. The contemporaries usually center around the intersection of love and law. The historicals run the gamut between continents and eras. The heroes of Mary Anne's books tend to be strong men who value lust more than love until stronger and smarter women teach them love's lessons.

Mary Anne's husband and two son tolerate her eccentricities - mostly.

She believes in second chances and new beginnings.

Please visit Mary Anne's blog to take a look at her other available books or to find her contact information. She would love to hear from you about your thoughts or opinions of this book. You can find Mary Anne Graham's blog at: http: //quackingalone.wordpress.com

GOOD - but the author can't decide it her books are a normal Historical Romance - OR EROTIC. She is a good writer, if she wouldn't try to have sex mentioned on every page. A women of society, wouldn't be grabbing a man's 'JUNK' in front of the Ton at a ball, let's get real!! But the story it self, was good, has rough sex and a possible rape, so be forewarned. Please Ms. Graham, stick with alittle sex, and use your great imagination for good storylines. Since I bought the bundle package, I am looking forward to the story on Boz, hopefully it is more romance than erotica. (ljb).

    Horrible romance book.

This is my second and LAST book by this author! This author must hate men. She took a proud powerful man and degraded him in so many ways. She likes to degrade and humilate men. If you hate men, then this author is for you. The book was so despicable i did not finish it.. i would give it zero stars if i could!
