Good song selection but poor sound quality

I purchased this CD hoping to expand the play list and improve the sound quality over a Jolson vinyl I've owned for well over 20 years. I succeeded on the first but failed on the second. My old vinyl has much deeper sound quality than what is provided on these CDs. The sound on this selection is thin and faded, not rich at all. Not sure if this is an issue with all CDs presenting older material, but you might want try one of the other collections.

    A reviewer

Older listeners know that Al Jolson was one of the truly original singers of all time. This collection includes a nice variety of his most famous hits, many of them recorded during the end of his career when his voice was somewhat lower but still very beautiful. The truly interested should search for other recordings made when his voice was younger and higher, too, but this is a good place to start! Al Jolson was the king of singers in his day and many other singers like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra admired him and were influenced in their styles by his unique performances.
