Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
YA In this ninth Xanth novel, Grundy Golem is feeling unappreciated, so he decides to begin a Quest to locate Princess Ivy's lost pet dragon, Stanley Steamer. Consultation with Good Magician Humfrey leads him to the Ivory Tower, where he rescues Rapunzel from the Sea Hag. As the Quest procedes, the Hag harries the couple and their companions. The puns that have made this series so popular with teens come thick and fast, although perhaps more forced and wearily than before. A lexicon of Xanthian people, places and things is attached.

    Great Book

This was one of the few books in the series I could not put down. You never forget Grundy, and I was pleased he got his own book. The sharp tongue(witted) and bold Grundy the Golem makes an excellent character. You will actually love his sarcastic personality. Grundy finally gets his own quest.

    Pun-tastic!

I love all of the Xanth books but this one was TOPS! I really enjoyed reading about Grundy and his point of view on everything. The self-sacrifice on his side was heartwarming.

    Great book

This is one of Piers' finest! I loved all of his Xanth series, but this was superb. This was one of his easier to follow books, but he didn't give as many point-of-views as he normally does. This is a great book for any Anthony fan, or those who need to get into Piers' work.
