Overview

Golf Speak is an ancient language, developed over centuries and fine tuned in recent years with the dramatic increase in televised tournaments played all year round. Golfer’s all over the globe have adopted phrases heard from enthusiastic patrons in faraway places and developed modern dialect adding to their own comments and clichés that are, well quite frankly absurd to non-golfer’s. This book takes a tongue in cheek look at ‘The Crazy Things That Golfer’s Say’ and what a playing partner could reply with if the statement is taken literally, with a little bit of psychobabble and definitions to what the comment really means. It is a funny look at ‘Golf Speak’ exposing the ancient and modern language, while reinforcing the need to maintain etiquette and decorum. A book packed with phrases said every day on golf courses all over the world after tee shots, shots from the fairway, recovery shots and on or around the green. A highly entertaining book filled with excuses and commentary said by golfers to explain why their golf shot went wrong.

Meet the Author

Chris Gibson is an author of a number of satirical books, and after playing the game and speaking fluent ‘golf speak’ himself for over 35 years the temptation to write a book was too great to resist. Aside from still trying to get better at the game, and failing miserably, he has taken solace in the social side and the banter that goes 'golf glove in hand' and provides humour with the silly things that seem to keep coming out of his mouth! Away from golf he continues to work as a franchise consultant and author of semi serious business books too.

    Elitist attitude

Last two chapters were good. The rest read rather negative.
