Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gomer takes his special stuffed toy, Little Gomer, with him everywhere, even on walks to the park with his dog walker. One of the other dogs, Chi Chi, the Chihuahua, teases him about his dependence on his toy, until the day Gomer forgets it in the park. Then Chi Chi proves to be a real friend, and the next day he gets his own toy from the grateful pup. This satisfying story is accompanied by simple cartoon illustrations in bright primary colors. The whole package will delight young dog lovers and prove a good lesson in friendship for one-on-one reading or a storytime group.-Judith Constantinides, formerly at East Baton Rouge Parish Main Library, LA Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
Kirkus Reviews
Gomer is a golden retriever who carries his stuffed animal, Little Gomer, with him wherever he goes. Gomer goes to the park every day with his dog walker, Donna, and a group of six other dogs. When Gomer loses Little Gomer in the park, he's devastated and no longer wants to play with the group. One of the other dogs, Chi Chi the Chihuahua, initially teases Gomer, but Chi Chi comes around and eventually finds Gomer's toy for him. The two dogs become friends and the next day Gomer brings an additional stuffed animal, Little Chi Chi, for his new friend to play with. Though the story line is simple, preschoolers with attachments to favorite toys or blankets will relate to Gomer's dilemma. The neon-bright illustrations in saturated colors provide visual punch with lots of canines in motion, and Gomer is an appealing character, as is his stuffed Little Gomer. (Picture book. 3-5)
