Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - David Sprague
It’s all about the adrenaline, baby. That’s the "message" to use the term loosely behind the big-budget remake of the ‘70s trash-cinema classic "Gone in 60 Seconds." Its soundtrack gets the heart racing too -- it’s rife with swagger, strut, and sonics that leave subtlety in the dust. While the album is somewhat disjointed in its stylistic content -- metal, techno, and hip-hop artists stake out separate but equal territories -- the unifier is the bad attitude, which hyper-charges everything from Ice Cube’s "Roll All Day" to Citizen King’s anti-anthem "Better Days and Then the Bottom Drops Out." Its soundtrack gets the heart racing too -- it’s rife with swagger, strut, and sonics that leave subtlety in the dust. The freshest sounds come from the hip-hop camp, with the on-the-money rhyme handoffs between Method Man and Redman on "Da Rockwiler" and the smoldering flow DMX delivers on "Party Up." Moby, who checks in with the typically head-turning sounds of "Flower," and the Chemical Brothers, who spike the proceedings with the loopy "Leave Home," make for some interesting listening, but some of the set’s rock material, like Gomez’s breathy "Machismo," sounds stilted in comparison. If you’re looking purely to pump up the volume, however, GONE IN 60 SECONDS will hotwire your synapses.
All Music Guide - MacKenzie Wilson
The edgy Nicolas Cage flick Gone in 60 Seconds is another action-packed drama featuring the very pouty Angelina Jolie; both of them play dirty dealers and car stealers. British heavy metal revivalists the Cult kick things off with the dark "Painted on My Heart," a haunting track that waves over the underlying sensuality between Cage and Jolie's characters. The quiet menace of Gomez's "Machismo" is striking, but it is Moby's Southern blues creation of "Flower" that seriously captures musical originality. The same goes for "Never Gonna Come Back Down" by fellow electronic colleague BT. Ex-Soul Coughing frontman M. Doughty lends a hand on lead vocals for a trance-happy psychedelic groove. Several rap music gurus also contribute: DMX, Method Man/Redman, but naturally the quickness of gangsta rapper Ice Cube is the only stand out. His hardcore badness is worthwhile as he bumps and grinds on a full tank of unleaded. Unfortunately, this is as exciting as it gets -- a quick sixty seconds.

    Where's Crystal Method ???

In the movie credits it lists Crystal Method's Busy Child as being in the movie, which it is, but its not on the soundtrack...too bad, it would fit perfectly with all the other cool tracks...definately awesome !
