Gong Hee Fot Choy Book of Fortuneby Margarete Ward
The literal translation of "gong hee fot choy" is "greetings of riches." A Celestial Arts best-seller since 1982, the Gong Hee Fot Choy Book of Fortune was originally published in 1948 as a companion to the Gong Hee FotChoy Book of Dreams. Consisting of a fortune-telling game that uses a regular deck of playing cards, this revised edition includes a newly designed playing board. The Book of Fortune is a fascinating interpretation of what it means to be "lucky," as well as a fun way to predict your future using traditional Chinese wisdom. Fortune will most certainly smile upon you if you read Gong Hee Fot Choy.
Author Biography: Margarete Ward (1890-1977) was an American iconoclast who lived in Shanghai from 1919 to 1925, where she developed a lifelong interest in popular Chinese culture and religion.

Ever since I picked up a shabby copy of this on a business trip 30 years ago it has been my favorite way of quick-and-dirty divination. Of course you have to make allowances for Chinese culture, but it translates better than traditional tarot to American sensibilities.
