Overview

Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.

4.5 Stars I have a new word in my vocabulary it's "CHEEZUS" and I bet any of you who read this book will be loving this word. If you have read Him or Us you would have already met Wes and Jamie and this story is about Jamie's sister Jess and Wes's teammate Blake, it's also the first book in a new series WAGs. This book had me laughing out loud and smiling like a Cheshire Cat, the banter and chemistry between Jess and Blake is off the chart and I loved catching up with Wes, Jamie and the rest of the hockey team. If you are looking for a fun read and sports romance is your thing this is a must read. Fantastic start to a new series.

Blake is that nutty, endearing character introduced earlier but now fleshed out. Blake's hilarious conversation had me laughing out loud in public while reading this book. It was a fun read and I look forward to more in the series.

I love a good book that makes you laugh and draws you in so much that you can't put it down. This book was definitely that kind.

Sam walked into the room without knowing for the first time "Dinner is ready.." He said glancing up. "What are you doing?"

As much as I loved Him/Us, I'm sad to say this one didn't live up to that standard. While I still enjoyed the story I did have to struggle my way through parts. I really wish the "not like other girls" line didn't make its way into this and the whole "she's mine and just needs to accept it" trope wasn't the way the relationship originated. I hope the next WAGS book is just as good as Him/Us was and doesn't slip into unhealthy tropes like this book did at times.

If you read HIM and US (amazing must reads), you'll be happy to learn that Jamie and Wesley are in this book. They aren't the leads, but it's a treat to see more of them. Jess is Jamie's sister. Blake is Wesley's teammate, and he lives in the same building as Jamie and Wesley. Jess and Blake had a hookup in US, but they weren't actually together. Jess feels like she isn't as put together as the rest of the Canning clan. She's trying to figure out her life. Blake is adorable. At first glance, he seems shallow and only surface deep, but that's because he likes to keep things lite. He prefers to make people happy. He's kind and funny, beautiful inside and out. Jess and Blake are so easy to love. They're decent people with big hearts and relatable actions. Both are great friend material, and they definitely fit as a couple. I really enjoyed this story. It left me with a good feeling. It's a mix of RomCom, sweet, sexy and sporty. It's worth checking out for sure.

This book can be read as a standalone novel. For those who have not read the HIM series, WARNING: spoilers ahead! This is the beginning of a new series featuring the characters from a previous one. Blake & Jess have a complicated history. When they see one another again, Blake wants more than just a brush off. Jess wants to walk away from the past. Jess knows her family thinks less of her already. The last thing she needs is to give them a reason to doubt her again. The wedding must be perfect. She must forget about Blake. This is a seriously fun read! Featuring characters I dearly love, and more about hockey too. I cannot wait to see what comes next in the WAGs series!! ***This ARC copy was given in exchange for an honest review only.

Cheezus! This book was amazing! Him and Us are hands down two of my top reads. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy know how to bring humor, romance and heat to their stories. When I read Us and got a glimpse of Blake and Jessie together, I needed more. Good Boy can be read as a standalone, but I definitely recommend starting with Him/Us - why would you want to miss out on Jaime and Wes's story???? What I love about this book: ~ The writing. Whether their writing individually or together, Sarina and Elle write a story that is easy to read, pulls at my heart and makes me laugh and fall in love. They know the key ingredients to make a good book and this one had everything I look for in a great read. ~ Blake. CHEEZUS. I love this character. He comes across as a total goofball - and he is - he's loud, funny and a total hornball. But he's also loyal and loving and romantic. I love his family - Mama Riley especially. ~ Jess. What a great heroine. She's going back to school for yet another career change and doesn't want to disappoint her family. I was rooting for her from the start. She tries to resist Blake's charms...but you know how that goes. ~ Friends turned lovers. These two both have committment/relationship issues. Blake was burned in the past and Jess is in school - no time for a new relationship. But they are drawn together and I LOVE how much chemistry they have. ~ Jaime and Wes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God I love these two guys. I love that they were a part of this book and I got to see them married and happy. Did I mention you should start with Him and Us?? Please, even if you don't like m/m books, give it a try. ~ The feels. I laughed, I lusted, I got a bit misty eyed and I swooned. I was rooting for these two to end up together. Reading this book put a goofy smile on my face almost the entire time. Bottom line: READ THIS BOOK!!!!! Highly recommend!

Blake Riley is a literary unicorn. If you’re looking for a hot & steamy romance that will make you laugh til’ you cry, look no further my friend. Good Boy has you covered! I’m pretty sure Blake Riley and his “Blakeisms” will stay with me for a long time and I’ll find myself incorporating his silly sayings into my day to day conversations. I give Good Boy 5 out of 5 Krissy’s Stars! Insert a good dog/hockey pun here because I wracked my brain trying to think of one and couldn’t come up with anything either witty or cleaver. LoL #Cheezus Xo-K *I was generously given an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy are off to another amazing start with GOOD BOY the first book of the WAGs series. WAGs is a spin-off of the HIM series, where we were introduced to GOOD BOY’s main characters, Jess Canning and Blake Riley. Jess is Jammie’s older sister, and Blake is Ryan Wesley’s teammate and neighbor. The story starts out in California with Jess planning Jammie’s and Blake’s wedding. Jess is the maid of honor, and Blake is the best man. Blake is excited to get to see Jess again and Jess, well…not so much. GOOD BOY is told from both Jess’ and Blake’s point of view. The story primarily takes place in Toronto. I like Jess. She is one of six siblings. She has struggled with finding a career path, feeling like she is a disappointment to her family. She finally realizes what she is meant to do and hopes she doesn’t once again fail her family. She moves to Toronto, where she ends up spending time with Blake again. Blake makes me laugh, smile, and shake my head. He is persistent, protective, and full of surprises. He can be annoying, but he is a great guy who means well. His ex-girlfriend, Molly, is a piece of work. She causes some drama in the story. Blake and Jess make an interesting couple. They become good friends. He releaves her stress. People that know them, would not expect them to be compatible. However, they honestly make a fantastic couple. They both really come into their own in this story. I enjoyed the plot. It was well executed and believable. I love that Jamie and Wes are in this novel. I can’t get enough of those guys. I love both characters' families. Mrs. Riley is great. GOOD BOY had an adorable ending. I love that Blake and the team are involvement with the Broken Paws shelter. I think the book cover, title and series name are brilliant. I love that the titles are words you would say to a dog. That works great with the series name since in hockey slang WAGs stands for wives and girlfriends. Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy are a dynamic writing duo. I’m anxiously awaiting book two in the WAGs series, STAY. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I'm a big fan of Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen so it was a joy to read a book jointly co-written by both these wonderful authors. I also love sports romances and I've read a good few hockey ones so I automatically knew I would enjoy the setting. Good Boy is the first book in what promises to be an extremely entertaining new series. I haven't yet read Him or Us but I totally plan to now as I loved the glimpses we got of both Jamie and Wes. I'm so glad I decided to purchase both books when they were on 99c sale recently. I really look forward to getting stuck into them shortly. As an aside, you can totally read this book as a standalone and I didn't feel like I missed out on anything by not having read those books first. Anyway, on to this book! Jess's brother is getting married and she has taken on the role of wedding planner which is a role she doesn't enjoy but she takes very seriously - she wants to make sure Jamie and Wes's big day goes off without a hitch. But she didn't bargain on hot hockey player Blake Riley - her ex-hookup - wanting to railroad the event and inject a bit of juvenile humor, as you do! Once this pair is in the same room you can bet the sparks fly! Jess is at a crossroads in her life and she's struggling to deal with a decision she has made and how to tell her long-suffering parents her news. She has no time for distractions so boyfriends are a big no no. Try telling that to the very persistent Blake who knows what he wants and is hell bent on getting it. I have to admit that Blake really irritated me with his immature carry on at the start and I did struggle to get into this book initially. HOWEVER, he completely won me over later on and I fell for him about the same time Jess did - he was a really good guy underneath the funny guy persona. Loyal to his friends and his family (have I mentioned how much I adored his family?) His ex was totally swinging from the cray-cray tree but he still protected her secret and that said everything about him as a person. The writing is excellent as I expected, the dialogue is hysterical, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The chemistry between Blake and Jess was great and I like the slow romantic build up and the back and forth between them. The schmexy scenes were hot! I'm really excited for this new series and hope it isn't too long before the next book is available. Thank you to the authors and their publicist for supplying an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Actual rating: 4.5 Stars
