Overview

PRAISE FOR
Good Day!

“Paul Harvey: a voice of reason, a voice of common sense, an eloquent spokesman for the America and the Americans he loved. Open this book and read ‘the rest of the story.’”
—Ben Stein, author, actor, economist, and journalist

“Beyond the story of a life well-lived, Good Day! captures the essence of this late radio pioneer. Mr. Harvey embodied our common American ideals.”
—Mike Huckabee, FOX News political commentator and former governor of Arkansas

“Paul Harvey had a voice and a broadcast you didn’t want to turn off. Paul Batura has a book you won’t want to put down. And like Harvey’s news and comment, you don’t want it to end.”
—Dan Vallie, director of the Kellar Radio Talent Institute, Appalachian State University

“Tens of millions of Americans got to ‘know’ Paul Harvey though they had never met or even corresponded, and the standard he established for news with personality will endure as one serious broadcast journalists will aspire to.”
—Hugh Hewitt, host of The Hugh Hewitt Show and Executive Editor of Townhall.com

“Harvey’s legacy couldn’t be in more capable hands.”
—Dr. James Dobson, bestselling author and founder of Focus on the Family

Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
When radio broadcaster Paul Harvey (1918-2009) stepped down from his daily ABC News and Comment show in 2008, he was nearly 90. Many of his listeners had not only grown up with him; they continued to listen to him after their retirement. Stentorian-voiced Harvey liked to say that he had grown up in a newsroom; as this biography shows, his claim was not far from wrong. He started working as a janitor and errand boy at Tulsa's KVOO in 1933, when he was just 14. Harvey's good spirits, Cold War fervency, and unpretentious ways established him as a media favorite. Good Day!, which borrows it title from Harvey's signature signoff, draws on anecdotes and tributes from high-profile friends and colleagues including Sean Hannity, James Dobson, and Mitt Romney.

    more from this reviewer

Why didn't anyone edit this book?

A book that makes one wonder if Regnery employs anyone with editing skills. This book is poorly written and crying out for an editor. The factual errors are amazing (Hopalong Cassidy was a character in The Lone Ranger?? -- don't think so!). Harvey's wife is Lynne, then Evelyn, then Lynne again. Each anecdote is its own chapter, some of which are repeated in the book. It does not do justice to its subject."

    Very well said

I liked this book very much. It was well written gave me insite of just how hard this man, 'Paul Harvey' worked to get where he was. It is a truly well written tribute.
