Overview

Falling for the bad boy is even more dangerous the second time around.

The McLaughlins, Book 1

In high school Sarah fell for her best friend's older brother-one of the sexy, Scottish McLaughlin boys. But a painful betrayal showed her she'd been a fool to give her heart to a bad boy. At least it made it easier to leave him and move halfway around the world when her Navy dad got stationed in Japan.

Eleven years later, the death of her grandmother has forced Sarah back to Whidbey Island for a month. It's the length of time she must stay in her inherited house before she's allowed to sell it, take the money and run. But when she sees Ian, bad as ever and still looking like sin on a stick, she can't keep her mouth from watering.

One look at Sarah stirs up the regret lingering in Ian's heart-and never-forgotten desire lingering in his body. He should walk away, especially since divorced single mothers aren't his style. But when she starts showing up at his family's pub, he can't resist a little casual seduction for old time's sake.

One thing quickly becomes clear, though. The heat between them is causing an avalanche of secrets and betrayal and nothing will ever be the same.

Warning: A bad-boy hero who's good with his hands, a heroine who's trying to be good. Contains liberal consumption of Scotch whisky, a Highland Games competition, men in kilts wielding large poles, and a potential Sarah McLaughlin of the non-musical kind.

Library Journal
In Stevens’s new series, Sarah Rawlings is resigned to returning to the Pacific Northwest to take care of her grandmother’s estate. Although the little island in Puget Sound holds good memories of her high school years with best friend Kenzie McLaughlin, it also holds the drama surrounding Sarah’s first love, Kenzie’s brother Ian. Ian has a checkered past but has tried to move on by starting his own business. Guilt and lust twine when he sees Sarah again. Despite the decade that has gone by, he wants her. But there’s a secret Sarah holds dear, and when it’s revealed, the pain might destroy the new love Sarah and Ian have found.

Verdict Stevens (Love Me Knot; Melting Point) has written a solid and thoroughly charming romance novel. Readers will enjoy meeting the McLaughlin clan and be eager for the next series installments. For all romance fans.—Christyna Hunter, Loudoun Cty. P.L., Lovettsville, VA

I am a huge fan of Shelli Stevens! I was so excited to read this book. Who can resist a Scottish bad boy? I loved the McLaughlin family! This definitely is the start of a terrific series. The romance between Ian and Sarah was sweet & hot! Ms. Stevens definitely does not disappoint. She's a terrific author! : )

I have to say that I was slightly skeptical about reading this one for one reason, The Highland Games. I must say that I am very much in love with the description of the games. Brings back lots of memories for me. I was very pleased with this story and can't wait to read more. Well done. I highly recommend this book to anyone. You will fall in love with the characters just as I have.

Though the book was highly predictable i did enjoy it. The chemistry between the characters was light anf heavy when needed and flawless. The story itself wasnt very original but it was well written and i could see it on a screen. The imagery in itself was good too. I must say that if you are in the mood for a chaming simple love tragedy turned romantic ending then this is the story for you...never mind the sexy scenes. Enjoy!

Oh. My. Wow! I love a series about siblings and each finding their true love. And the McLaughlins are amazing. Not only is this a wonderful story, but I am already excited about the hints of relationships coming. The McLaughlins include three brothers and one sister. This story was about Ian, one of the twin brothers. Not only do I love a sibling driven series, I am also a sucker for lost love reunited. That is what this story is about Ian and his high school sweet heart, Sarah, finding love again, eleven years after an quick and ugly break-up. I am a huge Shelli Stevens fan and have loved and read everything she has written. Her voice is down to earth and realistic. Her stories are amazing and keep you on the edge of your seat. Good Girl Gone Plaid is no exception. I literally could not put the book down and did I mention the surprise? Usually I can see it coming, the plot twist, but Shelli got me here. I was as surprised as the McLaughlin with the "surprise". I also enjoyed the young character, Emily. It is obvious that Shelli has had some experience raising little girls. :) I highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to read the next in the series.
