This book is not vegan as advertised. It advises using Chinese Egg Noodles, saying that "Because of the egg in the dough, they have a soft texture and rich flavor that makes a delicious base [...]. They also have honey in their recipes though they do suggest an alternative for that. All in all it is evident that this book was made by people who knew almost nothing about veganism and felt no enthusiasm for the subject.
I have been using a library copy of this book and have made several delicious recipes that both my husband and I enjoyed and our two vegan children were very pleased with. I am planning to buy the book for myself now. Mary
Excellent! I purchased this as a gift, and looking through it I may get one for myself. My friend loves it! It has beautiful pictures, clear, concise recipes. A wonderful cookbook to add to one's collection.
I haven't bought the book, but I 'looked inside' and read some of the first few pages. I find it very annoying that they are misguiding new vegetarians and vegans about what to eat and their nutritional needs. For instance, the little blurp about lactose intolerance and the box of "info" on different types of milk. Because of books like this is why people get so confused about what they need to be happy, healthful vegans. It's obvious Good Housekeeping is trying to be politically correct. I'm a vegan and I WOULD NOT recommend this book.
