    A must for beginners!!

I'm only 17 and am going to move in with the love of my life soon. Being so young and being home schooled for half of my life I never had the chance to take cooking classes. So I went to the mall in search of a good cook book so my boyfriend and I don't have to spend a lot of money always going out to eat. Well let's just say I didn't find a good cook book, I found an amazing cook book!!! I've made the apple pie out of this book twice and have gotten nothing but compliments!! And I've never baked anything till I got this book.

The directions are so easy to follow and the pictures are amazing and very detailed, they really do help! There's also many meals for every food group!! With this book I feel confident to make my marine many good meals and deserts for years to come!! This is the best book I've ever gotten and one of the only books I'm completely happy I bought! A must buy for anyone who loves to cook and wants to learn how to cook!!

    Great book!

I do sometimes wish that there were more recipes for a certain category (example: more than 3 or 4 cheesecake recipes), but this book has everything! You can flip through it and think "I've never made one of those before!" and then you have a couple of recipes to compare and some basic information about the dish. The beginning of the book is great too. If you are new to baking, it tells you how to measure out brown sugar and flour. If you are knew to the kitchen in general it teaches you about the cookware. This book is so great. There are a lot of cookbooks out there, but this one has the most information in one place (afterall, it's a very big cookbook). You will love it, and it makes an excellent gift!

I bought this for my girl friend and she loves it!

My girlfriend has been looking for a cook book lately, but she insisted that it have pictures so she knows what the food is supposed to turn out like. Everytime she went out, she flipped through a cook book with anticipation to buy, however almost none of the cook books have a picture for every recipe. You will notice in most cook books there is a picture for every 3rd or 4th recipe.

This book is huge, it has hundreds of recipes, and a picture for every recipe. The price wasn't listed on the book, so I was amazed when I took it to the register to ask how much it costs. When I got it, it was only thirty-dollars, then subtract the applicable discounts for being a B&N member. This book is easy to read, a lot of the recipes are easy to make, and it is an excellent value.

    LOVE IT!!!

This book is a great addition for any kitchen. This is the first cookbook that has truely helped me to become a better cook for my family. I've gotten great tips and ideas from reading the recipes. Recently I just made a corn bread but while cooking had the idea to add cooked/sliced sausage into the middle of the batter. It was excellent.

Great book for my bride to be

I bought this book for my daughter's wedding shower. She, just like me when I got married, can't cook for anything. I chose this book for her because it is an easy to follow cookbook. The basics are there, such as how to choose a cut of meat, how to clean the pan, all the measurements, anything you want to know about cooking. The dishes are beautifully illustrated and the recipes are in language that is user friendly. You want to know why I have faith in this book? Because 27 years ago when I got married someone was considerate enough to buy a Good Housekeeping cookbook like this for me and my well-worn version is still on my shelf ready for me to consult whenever I need it. I highly recommend this cookbook.

Good Housekeeping Step by Step Cookbook

I purchased this cookbook as a gift for my daughter who is getting her own apartment soon.

My kitchen is filled with cookbooks, but nothing that I thought could answer the every day questions of an occasional cook, who is now going to be cooking almost every night.

I read all of the on line reviews and thought the book sounded like a perfect fit. When it came, I intended to browse through it quickly. I found myself enjoying all the information, the beautiful pictures, step by step instructions and recepies.

After I give it to my daughter, I fully intend to copy some meals that I have never made before, even after 40 years of cooking.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a gift for a novice cook or even for themselves.
