The Barnes & Noble Review
A host of animals settle down for the night in this comfortingly adorable touch-and-feel flap book! With Melanie Mitchell's soft illustrations that are sure to make any child feel warm inside, this treat features a kitten, a puppy, and many other animals playing all day, then getting ready for sweet dreams. The lilting text first asks, "Good morning, little kitten! What will you do today? Will you get some yarn and play?" Opening the large flap reveals a snoozing kitty with gray fur to touch: "Good night, little kitten! Your day of play was fun, But now the yarn is done. Lay down your sleepy head, because it's time for bed." Similarly, readers can touch a puppy's fuzzy fur, a rabbit's cottony tail, and a chick's feathery wing; and at the end, a cozy blanket can be lifted to see a blonde-haired girl all snuggled up with her teddy bear. Filled with tranquil images and soft textures, this charmer makes for an extra, loving addition to before-bed reading. Matt Warner

My son, who is 15 months, had originally received this book as a gift when he was about 6 months old. I started reading it with him at that time and it quickly became a favorite story. As he got older he enjoyed "patting" each animal goodnight and was so proud when he learned to turn the flip-open pages. The book is very sturdy, but unfortunately my son spilled milk on the book while in our sitter's care and she never told me and days later, when we pulled the book out to read, all the pages were stuck together and ripped as we opened the book. I was heartbroken, but went the the B&N website to see if I could still purchase a copy. I was so happy to find it! We have a new copy of the book with rules about drinking milk while reading!

My daugter got this book for her 1st birthday, and she loves it. We've been reading it for 6 months and she never seems to tire of it. Her favorite part is the soft fur of each animal. Great book.

What a great book, you can read this two ways, just by reading the morning pages, or reading the morning and night pages. My daughter loves this book and she's almost 5 now, still looks at it often, even though she got it when she was 2. The last page is really cute, you put the little girl to bed and cover her up with a fleece blanket attached to the book, we just love this one! Great gift, too.

My son absolutely loves this book. We read it several times a day.

If you only buy ONE gift-book for a baby-friend, this is it! Beloved by my grandchildren for the pictures and "fuzziness", there are scads of educational reasons to buy it: tactile, good plot line, empathy-promoting. . . BEAUTIFUL!

I gave this as a gift to my grandson and he loves it. He has always love touching the touch and feel books. He is 20 months and it is a nightly ritual to have a bedtime story. Any book they like will foster a positive outlook on reading. Being read to is bonding time parent (or grandparent) with a child or children. Some of my fondest memories are those of reading to my children. I always brought a book along to the doctor or dentist and it promoted better behavior and kept them entertained. This book will be well liked by very young ones, a good Easter gift.
