Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This cleverly written book goes through the process of a young girl getting ready to go to bed at night with the help of her father. After a long bath, he names her "Princess Pruney Toes," so she decides to act like a princess the rest of the night by wearing a gown instead of jammies, eating a star sandwich, and making a wish at the end of the night. The book very nicely describes the process for getting ready for bed at night, and the illustrations are vibrantly designed to catch a child's attention while telling the story. The story line is simple and can be used to teach a child about bedtime. 2001, BridgeWater Books, $15.95. Ages 3 to 8. Reviewer: Nicole Peterson
School Library Journal
PreS-A delightful romp to bedtime. This story opens with the "princess," a towheaded preschooler, lingering in her bath, thus earning the name Princess Pruney Toes from her ingenious father. He guides her to bed, sticking to his schedule, but allowing for fun and games along the way. The child knows what she wants-dessert, certain pajamas, time with her pets. Finally, she is asleep. This story is unusual for several reasons-"Sir Daddy" is preparing his daughter for bed in an imaginative manner, "Ms. Princess" is boisterous and mischievous without being bratty, and her dad succeeds in getting her to bed without too much complaint. The illustrations are vibrant and active, complementing the story perfectly. The household activities are realistic-many preschoolers will recognize the little girl's toys and room. The love between parent and child is demonstrated through text and illustration. Families everywhere will enjoy tucking their children in with their own variations on this story.-Susan Marie Pitard, formerly at Weezie Library for Children, Nantucket Atheneum, MA Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.

Great fun for all to read!

This book was given to our 2 year old daughter as a gift, introducing her to longer books. I find it one of the more enjoyable books to read and it's one of our daughter's favorites. We read it to her after her bath when HER toes are pruney. To have even more fun with the book I found a finger puppet of a princess and Carter's pj's with princess' all over them - both of which my daughter gets a kick out of.
