Overview

The Philadelphia Phillies have gone from perennial losers to one of the greatest teams in Major League Baseball, winning the World Series in 2008 and narrowly losing it to the Yankees in 2009. The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Philadelphia Phillies presents all the best and worst personalities and events from the team's long and storied history. You'll enjoy tales about great players such as Tug McGraw, Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, and Brad Lidge, but you'll also hear how the Phillies were one of the last teams to allow black players on their team as well as the ugliness of October 23, 1993. If you're a through-thick-and-thin Phillies fan, this book is especially for you.

Best Book Ever for a Phillies fan

    Ryan Vare
    Book Review
    5/2/10

If you think you're a Phillies fan and you haven't read this book. Well than you're not much of a fan. This book tells you everything you need to know about the Phillies. The book is called "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly" by Todd Zolecki foreword by Scott Franzke. I would give this a book a 4.5 out 5 stars because I think there could have been some more pictures in the book, but overall it is an outstanding and amazing book about the Philadelphia Phillies history. This book talks about and tells stories all the way back to the Bakers Bowl and has every important thing, bad things, or ugly things that happened to the Phillies until now. Like winning the World Series in 1980 and 2008 and losing it in 1993 and 2009. Did you know on July 8th, 2007 in Denver the Philadelphia Phillies lost their game to the Rockies making 10,000 losses? This was the most losses by any team in any sport. Did you also know that the Phillies first stadium, the Bakers Bowl, left field wall was 400 feet from home plate and the right field wall was only 300 feet from home plate? Real Phillies fans would know this, and if you don't than you should definitely get your hand on this book.

Super Duper-licous absolutely and completely awesome every time 60% of the time

I love this book because it takes you on a magic carpet ride through time. It takes you back to the days of Chuck Klein and Grover Cleveland Alexander all the way to the days of Chase Utley and Ryan Howard. This is great read for any Phillies fan.
