Very interesting 1901 cookbook by an ex-slave. Unlike many early cookbooks, these are adequately seasoned with herbs. There are many meat stretching recipes and use of leftovers in soup, hash and croquettes. Some very uncommon. I was glad to see the only Sorrel Soup recipe I've ever seen. The copy is not so mangled as some where numbers are often illegible.
