Overview

Wish me a Merry Christmas.

At a time when Christian values are challenged—when the greeting "Merry Christmas" has been replaced by the supposedly less offensive "Happy Holidays"—Governor Sarah Palin makes the case for bringing back the freedom to express the religious spirit of the season.

In her bestselling books, Going Rogue and America by Heart, Palin has revealed how her strong Christian faith has guided her life and family. Now, in Good Tidings and Great Joy, she discusses one of Christianity's most sacred celebrations, and how the holiday has been robbed of its meaning and true tradition by the pressures of political correctness.

Palin defends the importance of preserving Jesus Christ in Christmas—whether in public displays, school concerts, and pageants, or in our hearts—and delivers a sharp rebuke to today's society for the homogenization of the holiday season. Sharing personal memories from Palin Christmases past, she illustrates why she holds the celebration of Jesus Christ's Nativity so dear.

Good Tidings and Great Joy revisits our traditional roots and the true meaning of Christmas. It is a call to action to readers to defend and openly celebrate the joys of their Christianity, and to say to one another, "Merry Christmas!"

Consistently well thought out manipulations, compounded with fear mongering and outright untruths. "An angry atheist with a lawyer is one of the most powerful persons in America." ~ from this book. Americans are not being told who to pray to, where they can pray, or how. The problem with the premise of this book is that it seems to claim the religious rights of Christians are under assault, but pays no attention to the fact that other religions exist in America, and they are protected from intrusion upon their beliefs as well. Public displays of religion using public funding are not allowed from any religion or sect, not just Christians. "Walgreens’ 24-page nationwide circular used the word holiday 36 times without one mention of Christmas." ~ from this book. If the followers of Sarah Palin want Walgreen's to use the word "Christmas", follow their mantra, use your wallet vote. Persecution of others may be as simple as erecting any religious edifice on public ground, but on private property it is not and cannot be legislated against. This book confuses the issue of public and private so much that the only logical conclusion is that the Author wants her readers to believe that America is a Christian nation in formation, something the framers of the Constitution were vocal against. "To the corruptions of Christianity I am indeed opposed; but not to the genuine precepts of Jesus himself." -Thomas Jefferson, 1803 Recommended related reading: "The Jefferson Bible" by Thomas Jefferson.

This book should not be tossed aside lightly, it should be thrown with great force. While Palin rants about her war on Christmas and not being able to understand that greetings extend to people from all walks of life. I find it offensive that she speaks of the commercialization of Christmas but yet is cashing in on a book. This is all hypocrisy!

I do not see any value in this book. People speaking of the commercialization of Christmas has been with us for decades. There is no war on Christmas! While others are being told that there is, the rest of us will be decorating our trees and baking.

This book is very interesting. I was quite surprised at how the religious aspect of Christmas is being dismissed in school and other public places. A must read!!

pure rubbish and I wouldn't expect anything other than that from Mrs. Palin. Then again, given the fact that she is incapable of stringing together a coherent sentence, I highly doubt she even wrote this book or the last 2 for that matter. Phoney war on Christmas is all in her head but way to cash in, Sarah! just in time! - very savvy.

Another great book from a beautiful (inside and out) Tea Party Conservative! Tea Party meaning: Follow the Constitution of the United States, be self reliant, only have a government to protect us, that is all they should be doing, and let the private sector alone. Government is the problem!

and if you pay any attention to what is going on in the world you would see that Christianity is being squeezed out of American life.
