    INSPIRING READ

JUST SPENT A GREAT WEEKEND WITH SOME FELLOW CAVALIERS AND GOODFELLOWS AND HAD A GREAT TIME. READ THE BOOK IN 2 DAYS AND RELIVED A LOT OF MEMORIES AND LEARNED A LOT ABOUT ONE OF THE GREATEST FOOTBALL PROGRAMS EVER. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE PERFECT STORM CAME AND IT WAS OUT OF ANYONE'S CONTROL TO TRY AND SAVE IT.

    Captivating

When I started this book I looked forward to reading it every chance I got. Given enough time I would have read it straight through. None of it dragged on. What a great story. Inspirational. These guys had grit. You can't help but respect the talent and work ethic these guys had. What a description of a bygone era. The author does a great job of putting you right next to these guys on the field, at mass, and at home. My dad, being one of the earliest of Boisture's recruits, and my uncle, who played for Perles, had told me these stories for years. It was nice to see these in print. I really enjoyed this book. Will read it again.- Andrew Bringard

    Easy Reading

The book reminds one of the great memories of high school. Catholic schools were small but had great traditions. I was glad to be a part of it. I meet people in retirement now that went to Catholic schools around the state and all remember St. Ambrose.

An Informative and Inspirational look at how High School Sports can shape people for the better.

A very entertaining look at a bygone era, this book would make a wonderful gift to anyone involved in high school or college sports, inspirational and motivational for fathers and sons alike. Also offers a glimpse of the major role Detroit, and Michigan, played in producing a quality batch of coaches back then. Sometimes it seems all roads led back to Duffy Daugherty, which could be a book of it's own.

A true story about a small group of HS students who pulled together to overcome adversity to establish a football dynasty.

Goodfellows is a quick & easy read. Rick Gosselin lived the story as a student at St. Ambrose. The book was thoroughly researched & told a remarkable story about a small Catholic school that built a football program with just 400 HS students (200 were girls). St. Ambrose HS football was to the State of Michigan that "Hoosier" HS basketball was to Indiana. I strongly recommend this book. You will find Goodfellows inspirational, informative & comprehensive.

Goodfellows was a pleasurable book and a quick read. This book was completed in one sitting.

The story was captivating and depicted the heyday of Catholic League football in the metropolitan Detroit area. Any high school student=athlete can identify with this story regardless of the era. While overall I enjoyed the story, the ending was too abrupt and failed to accurately detail the fall of the program. I would highly recommend this book to others.

    Goodfellows is a must read

As a student and athlete at Saint Ambrose during the 1959 Goodfellows victory I strongly recomend this book. It is both very accurate on the true story and an inspiration to overcoming difficult obstacles in pursuit of achieving excellence. It tells a true story of a small group of people that pulled together to achieve a football championship. establish a dynasty and providing a great learning environment.

    Good Fellows!

Goodfellows brought back so many wonderful memories of the school, the people and the programs. I was a cheerleader at St. Ambrose during that time, and my dad was president of the Athletic Club. My son-in-law, who is non Catholic and didn't grow up in Detroit read it, and also enjoyed it very much. The book really gives the reader a feeling of that era.

How to do the best you can with what you've got ----- and then some!

Brought back MANY memories of high school football. More importantly, this book shows what can happen when a team pulls together, minimizes ego, maximizes focus and dedication.

    An era gone by!

This was an enjoyable book that charts the football history of a small catholic high school in the Detroit area during the fifties and sixties. It tells a story of how men with vision brought about a winning tradition at this school. It brought back many memories of my youth.
