As a Google blogger, I was happy to review this book and learn how to make money from my blog, though this has proved to be an elusive goal. Very early on in the book, I am told I only need a credit card (I don’t have one), $5 (probably manage that) and a product or service to offer (don’t have either of those). I continued to read the book regardless of this early setback and found many helpful ideas, but many of them did not come from the author himself. One third of the book is taken up by foreword, preface, introduction, interviews with Google experts (all answering the same questions), book recommendations, glossary, index, etc. The other two thirds I found very helpful indeed and if I ever have a product or service I want to make money from, this is the book I will use to help me in that endeavour. The author begins with a history of online marketing, then moves on to optimizing your site, then walks you through the many and various advertising methods, and details the vast assortment of tools and web services available to aid you in your quest to get rich. Sadly, as the book was published in 2009, a few of his suggestions have gone by the board, as is the case in internet land, everything moves so quickly and new ideas appear at lightning speed. Overall, this book has explained many interesting ways to maximise my blog, present its best face to the world wide web and I think it will be very helpful to serious minded bloggers who wish to take it to the next level. Hopefully, one day, I will include myself in that group. Nevertheless, this is a very useful reference book for Google bloggers.

This is a terrific book for those who have no knowledge of Google, to those who just want to sharpen what they do know. As a senior manager for a full service advertising agency, this book was extremely helpful and provided tips on everything from PR, to blogging, to SEO and AdWords. I was able to confirm much of what I have learned over the years about Google and was able to expand my knowledge as well. My SEO director was just talking to me about Google Base and now I can have an intelligent conversation about how to strategically apply this for our customers. I enjoyed the way the book was organized - each chapter dealing with a specific discipline so that you can go back and reference areas you found interesting or skip ahead when something doesn't apply to what you are working on now. I also enjoyed the interviews at the end - but I have to admit that they all started to sound the same after a while and I found myself skipping ahead. I'm sure the author would get a giggle out of how many post-its are hanging off the pages now - this will continue to be a useful resource tool for me going forward as I return again and again to access the helpful links and references.
I really wish this book had been available a few years ago when I started looking into the possibilities of online marketing, or even more recently, when I was attempting a job-related search engine optimization campaign. It would have saved days of research and the expense of hiring an SEO expert. This book covers everything from setting up your online business for maximum Google exposure to making money by hosting AdSense ads on your site. To say it's thorough is like saying Mt. Everest is large. Fortunately, it's laid out in easy-to-navigate sections, breaks the information down into logical steps and is filled with links to online resources, interviews with experts and explanations of everything involved with the sometimes baffling world of internet marketing. I'll be going back to this one again and again.
