Balanced, healthy recipes, without the fuss, from celebrity chef Ramsay (Gordon Ramsay's World Kitchen, 2010 etc.). No fan of fad diets, Ramsay advises choosing seasonal foods at their peak; cooking without adding excessive amounts of fat; and using balance and moderation when planning menus. Following a brief introduction, the author condenses his favorite cooking methods for capturing and retaining "the flavor and nutrients, without adding excessive amounts of fat." Ramsay thankfully concedes that adding a small amount of butter or cream contributes to the flavor of most foods. He groups his recipes by meal rather than food group, moving through the day chronologically, and he also includes chapters for kids, entertaining, brunch and barbecues. The recipes are straightforward, generally requiring a minimum of ingredients and preparation. Ramsay plucks out several foods for special attention, including tomatoes, summer berries, leafy greens and oily fish; he discusses briefly why these merit attention and provides five easy ways to savor each item. Throughout the book, Ramsay sprinkles healthy tips without overwhelming the reader with information. These short topics include energy, exercise, omega-3 boost, healthy snacks and how to avoid bad fats. A snappy, concise collection of satisfying, easy-to-prepare recipes for harried home cooks, locavores and everyday foodies.

    Great recipe's from one of the best!!!!

    Concerning Gordan rasmay's book the recipes in here are phenomenal and i especially like the recipe fro the pork loin chops with sweet potatoes.
    The book describes each recipe in an easy to understand step by step instruction.
    One of my favorite books i reach for near dinner time.

    Good for inspiration and ideas

    This is not a bad book if you're looking for some ideas on how to expand your own recipe book. I found that the recipes needed a little tweeking, but were definitely excellent starting points for really good dishes.

    A-Freaking-Mazing!

    I simply adore this book! The recipes are simple and easy for the moderate to the experienced cook. I would recommend this book for any cooks looking to do something new and different. I have already made the cherry tomato omelet and the whole wheat blueberry muffins. I would recommend changing the blueberries to apples and adding cinnamon and nutmeg. Easy apple pie muffins! I love the fact that not only are the recipes healthy but they are delicious and filling. For those having difficulty finding ingredients. Try your organic stores such as Trader Joe's, Fresh Market and Whole Foods. If not, many things can be purchased online and shipped. Anyway, excellent book; going to buy more of them.

    High-brow cooking.

    Some of the recipes call for some strange ingredients that may be hard to come by, especially here in The States, but very interesting and good ideas for tasty healthful eating.

    lovely book

    Most of the recipes are delightful, but if you live in a land-locked state like I do it's hard to find seafood that isn't outrageously expensive. Why there was a recipe in here for plain old oatmeal is beyond me.

    I do love the emphasis on fresh ingredients and it is fun to try out the recipes on the weekends.

    The pictures are inspiring and the recipes are easy to follow.
