    'Faith without works is dead faith' Read James ch 2.

    This was probably the 2nd most important book I ever read (behind the Bible itself). This book shook my world and really made me take a good look at myself. Everything in this book is backed up by the scriptures. You can't refute what Dr. Macarthur is saying without denying the word of God.

    An outline to a true salvation.

    Great book! McArthur really nails it. If a person claims to be saved and cant see the truth that McArthur presents then they should check out 1 Corinthians 2:14 and evaluate there spirituality.

    The premise of "Lordship Salvation" is contradictory and false...

    When I bought this, I thought I was going to get additional insight on the gospel from a well respected teacher. WRONG. On one hand MacArthur will try to convince you that he is not preaching salvation by works, but turns right around and says in effect that a truly saving faith must inevitably produce good works otherwise you must not have been saved. Additionally, Lordship Salvation says that it is possible to lose salvation if say you died after having backslid before coming back to the Christian life. This creates problems on several fronts. Salvation is a gift first of all. Why would God take back something freely given. It doesn't even make sense. Also, if I have to prove my salvation by all these various works, how much do I need to do to be proven saved? What kinds of works and I know I believed but did I "really" believe? Was my faith strong enough? How strong should it be? Well, second of all for God to make faith effective it can be a very small faith. A little is all it takes when it comes to salvation! The big stuff is later when you actually have LEARNED something and build a capacity to appreciate God. This is blatantly salvation by human works and is anti-Biblical. Period. Many scriptures are taken out of context in this way of thinking not considering the situation of the time, the audience or even certain words in the original languages. I respect MacArthur and there are some things he teaches correctly, but on this issue I am afraid I can't agree. If this has you confused remember the policy of God's GRACE. Grace is everything God is free to do based on the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. We do not deserve it and there is nothing I repeat NOTHING we can do to earn it. We can't buy our way into heaven either before or after believing in Jesus for salvation. Even if our works are products of our Christian lives it still is not what saves us nor does it prove anything.

    John MacArthur Knows The Bible!

    Dr. John Macarthur is one of the best Bible teachers of the in the past 20 years or so. His book is accurate in it's claims and indeed does square with biblical truth. I highly recommend it!

    The Intro. alone is worth double the price. Through the Bible and this book, I understand genuine saving faith. Thank you, Dr. MacArthur. C. Jasmagy
