Overview

What would you do if you've seen a ghost in your house or heard footsteps when you know you are the only one home? How would you feel if you've heard your name called or felt something touch you? Would you feel uneasy when seeing your dog growling at something on top of the stairs?

This book is a compilation of over a Decade's worth of unaltered emails (never seen before) sent to The Ghost Education & Research Center (GERC) from people asking for help because they are experiencing real paranormal activity. These are real everyday people like you and me who can't dismiss anymore the things that go bump in the night as just being imagination or a tree branch hitting the side of the house, etc. These people are terrified of living in their own homes because they have seen a ghost of a little girl, or heard someone talking to them, or even been physically touched by something they cannot see. When things go flying, that's usually when we're called in.

Regardless what you believe, Some things exist, whether you believe in them or not. GERC works closely with the South Texas Ghost Hunters Alliance to follow up with these people and conduct real paranormal investigations free of charge. Do to confidentiality, any identifying information is altered (ex. the name John from Boston is now Chris from Miami along with their phone numbers that are also altered) so the letter (and grammatical errors) are left intact so the letter is as true to original as possible. Ask yourself when reading this... what would you do if you've GOT GHOSTS?

I was expecting stories and what I got was a list of emails that didn't tell anything. They were pleas for help but they left me wanting to know what the follow-ups covered. It was very disapointing. Also if it was me I would be very upset that they published personal information.

A Book of Emails. I wish I had taken the other reviews more seriously before buying this book. It is, in fact, a book of emails, and nothing more. These are emails sent to a supposed ghost investigator, and they at most consist of a paragraph or two. The emails are along the lines of, "Can you help? I think I have a ghost in my house because I see/feel/sense something that throws objects/moves things/slams doors/pinches me." That's pretty much it. No background info, no reply from the email recipient, and not even a good story. Some of the people requesting help are clearly experiencing sleep paralysis, some seem to be outright lying ("we threw garlic at the ghost and it disappeared"), and some seem somewhat unhinged ("I have been followed by a group of ghosts my whole life"). They are, for the most part, boring. And the reader will find himself/herself wondering how the investigator dealt with these cases, what did he find and so on. It would have been a much better book had the author picked a few of the interesting cases, started out the narrative with the email, then related the investigation and what was found. I can only imagine he didn't do that because he didn't find anything, or what he found was inconsequential. I have no idea why he wrote this book (or rather, compiled it, as he didn't actually "write" anything, not even a comment here or there on any of the emails). You are better off either reading a good compilation of fictional ghost stories, books written by TAPS or the fellow in Chicago who has written books on how to conduct a proper investigation, or even the many books written at the turn of the century about 'real' ghosts (those are very interesting and scary stories, related by people who actually did see, or are convinced they saw, a ghost).
