Gotcha

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Mark Schwartz
What began as a studio experiment in fusing Latin music with urban R&B and reggae has matured into a tropical-music vanguard. Sergio George, producer behind India and Marc Anthony's breakthrough hits, finds yet another futuristic Latin groove somewhere between Latin house, Dominican bachata, squeaky retro synths, and hard salsa. DLG's two rappers and histrionic vocalist Huey take a stylistic tour of contemporary Latin music that sounds like nothing you've heard before.

All Music Guide - Evan C. Gutierrez
DLG steps into the light with their 1999 release Gotcha, not only as an innovative alchemist of island rhythms, but also for featuring one of the hottest male lead vocalists in New York salsa. Joining the ranks of Victor Manuelle and Marc Anthony, virtuosic tenor Huey Dunbar's bright clear voice shoots through Dark Latin Groove like a flare lighting the night. The mad scientist approach to the development of an artistic identity has paid off for DLG. Including a funky take on salsa, bachata, old-school boogaloo, reggae, and more, Gotcha is as mixed and colorful as the Nueva York club scene from which the group hails, a modern-day international crossroads. The success of this ambitious pursuit is no doubt thanks to the influence and fortitude of co-founder and production superpower Sergio George. His experience from the booth and instrumental prowess are readily apparent. Sharp rhythmic hits, funky accents, and street-hot samples wait around every corner. As with any Sir George production, the band is comprised of the best in the business. An interesting concept now perfected, DLG's Gotcha will do just that. It'll getcha.
