This book is used in 'European Union' studies. Why? Because it offers a comprehensive study of EU history, institutions, procedures, and debates. You should be able to find any issue concerning EU in this book, ranging from specific treaties to questioning democratic image of EU. The book is a relatively easy read. It follows a simple language, although you might want to be familiar with some federal systems to better understand role of certain institutions. The only down factor in this book is the dry content. In other words, it is very descriptive in character, rich in information, but lacking in analytical depth. I am not a big fan of 'comparative' studies, as I find 'width' of knowledge less useful than 'depth', but if you have a sincere interest in EU and its institutions and policies, you will have a much better understanding of it all after reading this.
