This book is truly amazing!
I have waited a long time for a book like this because I now have the tools (with pictures) necessary to make some of the amazing deserts that I grew up having. I never wanted to attempt any of them before, fearing that they were far too complicated and once completed, would certainly ruin my childhood memories.
Well, that has all changed now! I am ready to head into the kitchen with confidence and a copy of ”Grace’s Sweet Life” under my arm, knowing that my deserts will rival those that I remember eating as a kid with a huge appetite!
I think I’m going to start simple; order the pizzelle maker and make some pizzelles like the ones my Nanny used to put in my lunch, followed perhaps by the Italian meringue.
Thanks so much Grace, for putting such an awesome book together and sharing your recipes with the world.

I once read a saying that describes me, it said “I exercise because I love dessert”. Chocolate, cheesecake, lemon anything, cream filling, I love it all and this book has it all, cakes and cheesecakes, mini desserts, cookies, pies and tarts, pastries and fried desserts, creams, custards, mousses, soufflés, frozen, and fruit desserts and they are better than the ones you will try in most Italian restaurants. Some recipes are relatively easy and some have more than a few steps. Some do require things that I do not usually have in my kitchen, but with access to the internet they are relatively easy to find. Now I just need some ring molds and a pizzelle maker!
The pictures are beautiful (almost every recipe has a picture of the finished product), the instructions are easy to follow, and I love that all the recipes have an introduction which tells you what to expect. Sometimes I wish that there were pictures to go along with some of the instructions but this isn’t a big deal.
The pastry cream is heavenly (and it is pretty easy to make), plus the variations are endless (think white chocolate, chocolate, cinnamon, espresso, coconut, etc). Italian meringue (think a light fluffy frosting), croissant dough, puff pastry, tiramisu (one of my favorites but I now wish Grace would make a raspberry tiramisu and include the recipe for ladyfingers), chocolate truffle tart with chocolate glaze, chocolate éclairs with pastry cream, and Nutella soufflé (I’m pretty sure Nutella is one of my favorite things to eat and this soufflé is delicious) . I will slowly work my way to the more complicated recipes as time allows.
I really enjoy this cookbook. I love to cook and these recipes satisfy my family’s and my own sweet tooth. Thanks Grace!

I got the cookbook a couple of months ago and have so many recipes earmarked to try. What I liked most about the book is the connection you feel to the author. The introduction is so personal and you really feel like you are baking with her as you read the recipes. Each recipe is very well thought out and developed! Absolutely a must have! This recipe book is filled with delicious treats for your family and friends. I really enjoyed reading this book and getting new ideas for when I entertain my guests. The desserts are very creative and alot of time and effort I can see went into this book. I have tried the Raspberry, Blueberry and Pistachio Almond Crumble recipe for a dinner party a couple weeks ago with some friends. They really enjoyed this dessert, I thought it was pretty obvious when they asked for seconds. :) And the other recipe I tried were the Mini Lemon Mousse cakes, so delicious. I made them for a bake sale at my work, and they were a huge hit with the crowds. They were gone within 20 mins from the table. I can't say enough great things about this recipe book, Grace has truly exceeded my expectations and really has out done herself. I love how detailed she is in her instructions and really makes things easy to understand. Simply follow her recipe steps exactly and the recipes will come out beautifully! Beautiful pictures as well in this book, amazing work by the photographer. I am recommending this book to all my friends and family for sure! Even some of them asked when is she opening up her own bakery because they would definitely be buying her sweet, delicious desserts everyday!Was this review helpful? The recipes in this book have been personally made each and every one by the author. She comes from a very close Italian family and over a lifetime of Italian family dinners these recipes came to pass. My wife and I found that we can cook and bake after all. No more fears. I admit I was surprised to see Chocolate Salami as a dessert choice, until I read that the three main ingredients are chocolate, cookies, and dark rum. We decided the first recipe we would try would be Amaretto Cheesecake with Almond and Cookie Crust and Amaretto-Caramel Sauce. No problems with ingredients, no problems with preparation, we made the cheesecake no problem, waiting for it to cool before putting on the sauce was a test of willpower. We put on the sauce waited for cooling and perfect. This is a perfect dessert cookbook for that special dinner party.
