Meet the Author

Everyone should learn something from their 2-year-old niece. Jenny reminded Scott why it is good to go with the flow of the wind (she loved to run with the wind but hated going against it). This is how he became a park ranger and stuck with it for almost 15 years. Scott discovered the wonderful world of wetlands at Lake Metigoshe and fell into a new career of advocating the need to restore, improve and protect our natural environment. Today Scott is lucky to have a varied and fascinating job; one day might include macroinvertebrate sampling to determine water quality, and the next day to teach children the importance of watershed boundaries or even to explore rivers by paddling with a diverse collection of experts. As a result of the winds blowing him east, Scott and his partner and best friend, Angie, now live in southern Minnesota and enjoy going on new adventures wherever the breeze might push them.
