Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
YA-Another in the list of Brown's wilderness/mysticism/ethos/survival books. This one takes readers through some of the most profound experiences of the old Apache of the title, who imparted to his grandson the wisdom expressed in the author's earlier titles. Going much deeper than nostalgia for a lost way of life, this work exhorts readers to eschew materialism and waste, and return to a simpler but more satisfying relationship with the fragile Earth. Grandfather is filled with visions and mystical phenomena as it relates the old man's search for the universal and sublime truths that will enable humankind to find harmony with nature.-Judy McAloon, Potomac Branch, Prince Edward Public Library System, VA

THE BOOK ALL DADS SHOULD PURCHASE FOR THEIR SON, A TRUE INTRODUCTION EVERY YOUNG MAN SHOULD READ, IT WILL CREATE THE A TRUE LOVE OF HUNTING.

I only wish my Dad could have given me the knowledge that the book 'Grandfather' gave to me (now at the age of 62) 50 years ago. I only regret that copies of this book are so hard to find. I would so love to give it to my Grandsons to read & learn the reality of what true hunting is & can be in a young mans life, for there are so many lessons to be learned from Mr. Brown, that really relate to our present day trouble with parents & grandparents trying to guide our young men along life's path. I just want to thank Field & Stream for printing the article in their mag. I wish him the best for the things he's overcome. I am a disabled Viet Nam Vet. & know how hard it is at times. Mr. Brown, you keep up the good work, for you will never know in your life time, just how many young men you & your books have sparked that fire, deep inside of them. Knowledge is aquired, and your books create the interest, to aquire that knowledge. After all Hunting is a great family traditation, and you have the way of telling us all, just how to do it, with taste and the true reason, man has done it, for years, for all the right reasons. I only hope you get this note, Respectfully, Ben H. DuBois, 263 Dr. Pittman Rd., Uvalda, Ga. 30473-----a true hunter & Ga. Redneck !

80 years of double-full-time spiritual research

Biography of Stalking Wolf (Grandfather), a 90 some year old Apache shaman and scout. Grandfather spent nearly his entire life wandering the hemisphere researching the spiritual practices and way of life of everyone he encountered. His goal was to distill this all down to the fundamental truths that apply regardless of culture or religion. Can help you make peace with yourself and religion.
