Publishers Weekly
Sprightly watercolors explore the special relationship between grandmothers and their grandchildren in this companion to Mommy Calls Me Monkeypants and Daddy Calls Me Doodlebug. In grandma's cherry-wallpapered kitchen, a laughing toddler explains, "Grandma calls me Gigglepie... a treat that's sweet and funny." And in rhyming couplets, animals share the terms of endearment given to them by their grandmas. A snake breaking through its shell is "Snaggletooth" ("see how I broke my egg?"), and a flamingo baby declares, "Grandma calls me Tricky Chick... hey, look! I'm on one leg!" Readers for whom a grandparent is a primary caregiver should especially value this buoyant affirmation of affection. Up to age 3. (Mar.)

Another winner by super author J. D. Lester. I bought and read her first two books, Mommy Calls Me Monkeypants and Daddy Calls Me Doodlebug, to my youngest grandchild. He's too old for a board book now so this one goes on my bookshelf (I have a signed copy). J. D.'s rhyming and Hiroe's illustrations never fail to make me smile. In fact, I giggled all the way though. How about one for grandpa?
