Overview

The SINGER Sewing Company is commemorating the 160th Anniversary of the SINGER brand. A patent was issued on August 12, 1851 for the first SINGER Sewing Machine.

A newspaper blurb asked owners of their SINGER Machines to write a tribute about how they got their machines and how they were used. I went to their website address and received a Certificate Of Acknowledgment telling me that my machine is 122 years old!

This brought back many memories of the machine that stands in my hallway! This story is true and looks back in time to my Grandma's SINGER Treadle Sewing Machine's life story.
