My husband spent summers with his great-grandparents on their farm in Maryland. He always tells me what a wonderful cook (and baker) his Granny was. Luckily, his dad liked to cook too, so some of Granny's recipes have survived! Here's a traditional Southern 3-layer cake ~ with pineapple, bananas, cinnamon and pecan ~ layered and frosted with a glorious CREAM CHEESE frosting. It's totally from scratch ~ and Granny would really want you to beat this batter by hand! (I don't think she had a Kitchenaid mixer ~ lol) So, get out that wooden spoon and go for it! TOTALLY WORTH THE EFFORT!
