Overview

Some suburban moms just can't catch a break. There is humor in raising kids, guinea pigs, soccer moms and Nutella. Toss in two new roommates to make ends meet, crazy daily chaos and a desire to have the green grass she once had and you get a story about a mom that makes it all work out. A light, uplifting read, that any mom could easily relate to. Humor in all the right spots and just a touch of romance to give it all a happy ending.
This book is dedicated to all the moms in my life. We have laughed through the most diverse oddities and cried about the worst. We talk about our kids with hopes and wishes, and we complain about them like nobody's business. We are the most important people in our family's lives yet we are often the most underappreciated. This book is to you. May you remember that the grass IS NOT always greener on the other side.
Metaphorically speaking we as women are our own worse critics. We need these things so we can look in the mirror to say, 'ah, my grass is looking pretty green'. If it takes a box of hair color, a new outfit or to shed a few pounds to make the grass seem green then so be it. However, Maybelline Briggs isn't looking for the Holy Grail of Eternal Youth, just a way to get back on her feet through all the chaos.

Loved it! Soccer moms revenge - in a round bout sort of way. Will make you want to cheer for the mom and smile at the end.

Meet the Author

About the Author: CJ Hawk - Writer of chick lit., romance, and mystery.

I am an independently published author that finds scraps of time to write with an intention to escape the perils of a working life, helping my husband with his business, raising teen boys, two shelter dogs and a tank full of fish that are trying to recreate Nemo daily for my personal entertainment, for which I am thankful for all.

My novels sprout as short stories and often grow to full-length novels. Sometimes its quirky general reads that turn to mysteries. Other times those mysteries turn to romance. Some novels sprout like weeds, go full gangbusters into adult romance and sell like ice-cold spiked lemonade on a hot summer's day.

I love what I do, but I can tell you that nothing ain't what it seems - Writing has its difficulties like a new relationship. The plot building is equivalent to seeing a handsome man for the first time, and your heart starts pounding. The plot lays itself out, and the characters are developing just like a new relationship with that handsome man. Then comes the editing and refining part which is equivalent to finding out he snores, farts way too much and leaves the toilet seat up. Get my drift. In the end though, it is all worth it and nothing beats a rock-solid relationship that can handle the ups and downs, nor does it beat the smile I leave on a reader's face after they got a moment away from the everyday hectic life.

Readers positive reviews or social media shout outs are always a welcome thing.

    Disappointing...

The storyline had great potential but the characters were one dimensional. Instead of alluding to the soccer incident, the author should have shared it with the reader since it was brought up several times. I also felt that one of the main characters lies was divulged in an unclear way. The book also should have been edited since there were errors like using "sheik" instead of "chic". Good for a free book, but not a keeper.

Chick lit, witty. Older women can definitely relate.
