The best of Tepper's uniformly very good work. Characters are beautifully drawn. The story is complex and fascinating and theme does not intrude, nor cause the plot awkwardness found in some of Tepper's books. Read this!

Another superb book from Tepper. Her characterizations are excellent as always, and the plot works on multiple levels. There are surprises throughout the story. Truly a classic.

Overview
What could be more commonplace than grass, or a world covered over all its surface with a wind-whipped ocean of grass? But the planet Grass conceals horrifying secrets within its endless pastures. And as an incurable plague attacks all inhabited planets but this one, the prairie-like Grass begins to reveal these secrets -- and nothing will ever be the same again.
