This guide to a baby's first year by the author of Great Expectations (LJ 3/15/93) combines information from experts as well as insights from parents. Aiming to help parents ``understand and cope with their new role and their new addition to the family,'' it offers month-by-month chapters discussing what to expect each month, seven chapters on Mom and her body, and five chapters on the family. Each chapter is divided into small sections addressing very specific topics. The table of contents is so complete that it is easy to turn to the desired subject very quickly. For those collections with a strong childcare emphasis and for collections wanting as many infant care/childcare books as possible, this highly readable guide is recommended.-Mary J.
