Bone And The Great cow race

Bone is a little bone creature who got kicked out of boneville in book 1. He and his cousins (Phoney and Smiley) are making people bet on a cow race. Grandma Ben races cows and Phoney makes Smiley be a cow. But rat creatures attack during the race. But the rat creatures are after Phoney because he bears a star. So read and find out what happens to the Bone cousins.

I recommend this book for grades 2-6

11/14/11 The Bone Cousins: Back in Action Bone 2: The Series Continues The book I will be reviewing is called Bone 2 The Great Cow Race, by Jeff Smith. This is a realistic fiction that teaches not to be greedy and to stay out of trouble so you don¿t have to pay any consequences. The story is written as a graphic novel. This book continues where Bone 1 left off. The book series is very successful and won many awards. The series has a total of 9 books. One award was the Eisner Award. In 1996 Jeff Smith won the National Cartoons Society Award for Comic Books. He learned about cartooning by reading comic books, comic strips and watching TV animation. In an interview with Jeff Smith, he stated he first drew the Fone Bone when he was five then from memory when he got older. The character looked like a dog bone which is how ¿Bone¿ became the title. He says ¿I always loved cartoons as a kid, reading them, watching them on TV so I decided to come up with my own.¿ He became interested in writing when he was in college and learned how stories were put together and how they worked. He was inspired by Mark Twain¿s adventure books like Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer. At that time he knew he wanted to take the Bone characters on adventures which started the Bone series of books. His books are published in 13 different languages and won many international awards. The story takes place in Barrelhaven at the spring fair during the great cow race. The spring fair has all different colors and smells and food. In the Great Cow Race, Fone Bone and his cousins plan to return home to Boneville after visiting the village of Barrelhaven. Phoney tries one last chance to get rich quick at the town¿s annual great cow race. Things don¿t go right when he tries to fix the race. Fone Bone is a character who makes new friends and gets into trouble a lot. He got into so much trouble he got kicked out of Boneville. Smiley Bone is a character who would come up with the crazy ideas like dressing up as a cow and betting for himself to get money. Phoney Bone is a character who yells at his cousins Fone Bone and Smiley Bone. Jeff Smith wrote the Bone books as a graphic novel that is structured like a comic book. The story is told using drawings. I would recommend reading the Bone series because they are funny and have a lot of adventure.

For action and adventure and a laugh; go with Bone

My eight year old is a big fan of Bone books. My thinking is, if it keeps him reading and he likes it, why not let him read them. He and his friends at school enjoy Bone books. They encourage each other to read them. If eight year olds are encouraging each other to read...it has to be good.

    I Also Recommend:

I put my money on the bone cousins!

Smiley and Phoney arew back to there old tricks! With the towns anual cow race just around the corner, Smiley and Phoney have found out another way to get rich! By sponsering this new "Mystery Cow" whos odds of winning are better than Gamma' Ben's. But know theres an even bigger problem! Not only are the rat creutures back! But Phoney dosn't even have a cow! who will win? Will the Rat Cretures destroy bone? Why is that one creture so obsessed with quiche?!?!?! Well you'll have to read it to find out? Won't you?

    bone rules in my home

My son is a gifted student, but is very poor in reading. He dislikes reading. When he told me about the first series of bone, I had to go get it. He read it in 2 days. Then I ordered this book and he just couldn't put it down. He read it that same day. For a parent who is concern that my child doesn't like to read, Bone rules in my home. It is a beautiful feeling to see my son reading again.

    The worst of the books...

I think that this book was tremendous. I was impressed by this book, and every other book in the series. The Charecters are loveable, the art is amazing, and most importantly, the story is like a roller coaster, you'll never want to get off. From Barrel Haven, to the Farm House, to the Lord of the Locusts cave, this series has it all. Why you might be asking my headline says it is the worst of the books even thought i gave it a 5. This is because it's still an amazing book, but was unneeded in the series'I still think you should read it if you are reading through the series'. I LOVE BONE

    Bone Back in Black

The greatest cow race was when cows race. An old lady runs with the cows to win the race, and she does. Bone is a ghost who dresses as a cow and runs in a food race, but looses. The old lady was last, but she caught up to the leader. After the race the grandmother and the ghost went to a bar and arm wrestled. The grandaughter likes a boy who doesn't like her. The boy joins the race but looses. The ghost hit the guy for not liking the grandaughter in the face with a letter. I recommend this book to kids that like to read comic books.

    This is good book.

This Book is about a bone from Bonneville and his with his friend named Liz she tells bone that she wants some honey so they go to buy honey an there¿s a boy that is selling the honey an he likes Liz so he wants to flirt with her an bone gets mad because he doesn¿t like him so bone tells Liz that he would get the honey from the trees so they argued and they go in different ways so bone goes walking an he sees his cousin selling some tickets because there¿s a old women that races in the cow race and she is always winning all the races so his cousin is bringing a mystery cow so that it could challenge the old women. Read this book now!

Bones is a funny book and very interesting. The book is like a comic book which I like a lot. And its not that childish is like for adults which makes people read it. The main character is like a dog, who got him and his two cousins stuck in some place far from home an there trying to get back home but they will have obstacles that won¿t let them. Will they make it? Find out by reading them.
