    A glimpse into history

    I found this book to be quite interesting as it gave you a very full spectrum on the life of England's most notorious monarch. As you read through the pages it reads more like a story than a recital of dry historical fact. The author provides us with a real feel for the man as well as the King. Henry started out as what seemed to be the perfect King, but as time passed, the crown grew heavy and Henry changed. This book allows us rare insight into the life both personal and public and weaves the details together from sources like a rich tapestry. I highly reccommend this book to anyone with interest in learning more than passing knowledge about Henry VIII and the heart of the Tudor dynasty.

    Absolute Power Corrupts....

    Henry VIII is often thought of as the king who kept beheading his wives. (Actually, he only had two of the six executed.) Carolly Erickson brings out the fact that Henry was much more than the satyr of legend and film. Many contemporaries felt he posessed one of the best minds of his era. Erickson does not turn away from the other sorlid and unsavory aspects of her subject. Henry was a product of his time who was unable to rise above the narrowness and cruelty of his age. I plan to read more of her biographies of the Tudors. I have also enjoyed books by Alison Weir and Desmond Seward about the English Middle Ages.

    You'll Like This Book!

    If you have interest in the life of Henry the Eighth and his court read this book. It's full of details that make a good biography. You'll learn the whole scope of his personality from the begining of his life to its end. The book is great for people with a mild to fanatical interest in the time period of Henry.
