Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Publisher's Weekly
Although there is a section devoted to meals for entertaining, most of the dishes here fall into the category of family fare, and are relatively easy to prepare. Included are recipes for soups and stews; main-dish salads; meat, poultry, seafood and vegetarian dishes; ``quick and easy meals''; low-cost and low-calorie selections; international dishes; and meals that can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator or freezer. The editors also provide tips (and recipes) for taking advantage of such appliances as microwave ovens, slow cookers, toaster ovens and electric woks. Purists should be forewarned: the recipes call for some time-saving ingredientscanned vegetables and condensed soups, bottled salad dressings, packaged piecrust mix, etc. Foreign rights: Times Books.
